We’ve been big fans of Oppo’s flagship smartphones ever since the rather excellent Find X2 Pro launched with its frankly stunning orange vegan leather design on its rear panel that made it stand out from the almost uniform black slabs on offer. Oppo has flirted with sleek ceramic finishes with the X5 before this year’s Find X6 Pro launched with rear panel sporting a vegan leather finish beneath a metallic silver finish meeting halfway through the big round camera housing.
Likely to launched in early 2024, Oppo’s Find X7 series will almost certainly be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset (at least in part), and no doubt we can look forward to bigger batteries and further enhanced camera sensors as well.
A Match Made In Heaven?
Thanks to the leaked image posted on X/Twitter by Max Jambor, we have a clear look at what to expect from Oppo’s upcoming Find X7 series in terms of aesthetics. It appears that the brand is refining the dual-tone finish first seen on the Find X6 Pro, with the metallic finish now meeting the vegan leather section at the bottom of the large camera housing which is still circular in design.
The camera housing shows the presence of Hasselblad branding along with 4 sensors, one of which is rectangular in nature and is likely to be a periscope telephoto lense. The flash has been moved to the top left corner above and separate from the camera housing.
Will The Find X7 Launch Globally?
With the OnePlus 12 series launching globally, it’s anyone’s guess whether Oppo will release the Find X7 series outside of China. If this is the case, it tracks because Oppo chose to launch its Find N2 series of foldables globally and restrict the Find X6 series to the Chinese market. Which was a great shame in my opinion because it on paper at least, the Find X6 Pro looked like it was a winning combination of hardware and style.
Alert Slider?
From the leaked marketing image, it appears that the Find X7 has an alert slider present on the left hand side of the phone. If so, this will be a first for an Oppo handset, and a sign that perhaps the OnePlus aesthetic is seeping over in to its stablemate’s philosophy. Frankly, once you experience the ease of use controlling sound, vibrations, and notifications with the alert slider you won’t want to go back to how every other phone does it. It’s simply that good, and one of the main reasons I love reviewing OnePlus phones.
What else can we expect?
Well, other than at least one model being powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and another by MediaTek’s flagship processor, the Dimensity 9300, we can probably expect up to 24GB of RAM and a battery with around 5,400mAh capacity. Wireless charging could also be present, especially since it’s returning with the OnePlus 12, and we can probably expect a wired charging speed of up to 150W but probably closer to the 100W mark.
