The New Downloadable Samsung Quick Share App
Quick Share is a file-sharing utility that launched a new version alongside the Samsung Galaxy S24 series as a built-in feature. The feature gives users the ability to share various types of files with other people while retaining the original quality and not having to compress them as similar sharing services do.
While the utility was already natively available on recent Samsung devices running Android 10+ or One UI 2.0+, the previously exclusive feature is now accessible by other Samsung handsets through the Galaxy Store. All you have to do is go to the Galaxy Store and download the app on a device that supports it.
Users can use Samsung’s sharing feature to share single or multiple files swiftly and easily from any app on their device that supports sharing. It doesn’t matter if the device you’re using is a tablet, phone, or a laptop or computer running Windows 10.
Bigger Files, Better Quality
The latest Quick Share update brings two major improvements. Firstly, the update brings support for a higher file size limit when sharing files via a QR code or sharing with contacts. The file limit has been increased from 3 GB to 5 GB, which raises the gap between this and Bluetooth’s unofficial 100 MB limit even more.
This update allows users to share bigger files through the file-sharing utility, along with giving them the ability to send a larger number of files at once for added convenience. Being able to transfer files without having to sacrifice any quality by compressing it is no doubt a huge plus point for the new utility.
Merger With Google’s Nearby Share
Perhaps the biggest feature in the new Samsung Quick Share update is the support for Google’s Nearby Share. Google had announced at the CES 2024 that Nearby Share and Quick Share would merge under the “Quick Share” brand. Google has essentially partnered with Samsung and is making the Samsung Quick Share app a “simple cross-Android file transfer solution.”
With the new update to the Samsung Quick Share app, Samsung has taken the step to do just that. As witnessed on the Galaxy S24 series when it was launched earlier this month, the updated Quick Share app now supports sharing via Nearby Share on Samsung Galaxy devices.
People must log in with their Samsung and Google accounts to use this feature. However, this gives Android users a way to easily transfer files between devices, regardless of which company the device you’re using belongs to.
