The Samsung Galaxy S24 Phones Are Getting More Photography Tweaks
If you’ve had any member of the Samsung Galaxy S24 family since launch, you’ve likely noticed that the cameras don’t perform as great as you might expect. In fact, some folks say that side by side with the Galaxy S23 family, there are some aspects where the S24 devices are lacking.
With modern mobiles, perfection is an ongoing process. In February, the S24 series saw the first major camera-focused update, and now that April is almost here, another camera update has started rolling out in Korea, India, and Europe. Depending on where you live, the size of the update will vary, but it generally stays under 1GB.
There’s a changelog for the update, so we know exactly how it is intended to improve your camera (and video) experience when using any of the S24 phones. Here’s how:
- Image quality in low light is improved
- Colors in the ExpertRAW app are improved
- Text clarity when zooming in Photo Mode is improved
- When using Instant Slow Mo, 480 x 480 resolution is now supported
If you’re yet to receive the update, remember that it is officially an update for next month, so you may see it in a few days. Updates tend not to be released simultaneously worldwide, so it is normal to expect a bit of a delay for some regions.
What Other Camera Fixes Has The S24 Series Partaken Of?
This month’s list of camera fixes isn’t that extensive, especially when you compare it to the changelog that we saw back in February. That brought a lot of camera fixes, with some specifically targeting the S24 Ultra. This month, it doesn’t seem like there’s any favoritism.
But anyway, you might be curious as to how the S24 series‘ cameras were improved last month, and here’s how:
- Colors in Food Mode were improved
- Colors and white balance in Night Mode were improved
- Image quality and brightness in pictures against a strong backlight were improved
- When zooming into photos in ExpertRAW, image quality was improved
Those are the general fixes, but the S24 Ultra is the prized child of the bunch, so it got a lot of camera fixes all to itself, which include the following:
- Text clarity when zooming at high magnifications was improved
- Rear camera video recording quality was improved
- The capture of fast-moving subjects against a strong backlight was improved
- Photo subjects were made to be better exposed and colors were improved
- Photos seen through the viewfinder in Photo Mode were given darker shadows and better sharpness
