The Oppo Find Series Will Bring You Faster Internet Speeds
The Oppo Find X7 series has two phones: the base Find X7 and the Find X7 Ultra. Both models will support 5.5G networks even though they use different processors. The Ultra model uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Gen 3 processor, while MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300 chipset powers the base model.
Pete Lau (Chief Product Officer at Oppo) revealed this development on his X account. Although he only hints at the 5GA status bar on the Ultra model, the brand’s Weibo account suggests that both phones will receive it.Â
It makes much sense, considering that they use chipsets compatible with the network. Their processors come with the latest CPU and GPU architectures, along with advancements in AI processing, making them powerful enough.
China Mobile, the telecommunications company that launched the network, intends to distribute it in over 300 cities before or by the end of the year. Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and select other locations are included in its plans.Â
5G Hasn’t Finished Rolling Out, So What Is 5.5G?
While some areas are launching 5.5G, 5G networks haven’t even reached everywhere yet. The network has only been deployed in over 60 countries, including the US, China, South Korea, and India. You could blame I
Infrastructural upgrades for the delay. It’s expensive to deploy 5G, especially in rural areas. Hence, it’ll take longer for the residents to see significant coverage. Additionally, not all devices are currently compatible with 5G.
5.5G is what the 4.4G network is to 4G. It’s the advanced version of the base network, and it’s supposed to be faster and more robust. Most network generations use a numbering system according to the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), a group of organizations developing mobile telecommunications technical specifications.
The 5G network you may be familiar with is defined by release 17. Release 17 (5G) eventually progresses to Release 18 (5.5G), and then to Release 19 (6G). Each release builds upon the previous one, similar to the transition from 4G to 5G. 5.5G is expected to be 300% faster. It will also reach speeds up to 10Gbps in downloads and 1Gbps in uploads.
Will You Get 5GA Soon?
Currently, the 5GA network is limited to the Oppo Find X7 series in its home market, China. It won’t be available globally for a while, as it’s still under development. Many countries still struggle to achieve reliable and widespread coverage for current 5G networks. But you should expect a wider release to the US and other countries in a year or two.
