Keeping your Galaxy S24’s battery in tip-top condition is easy, thanks to the built-in Battery Protection function.
- Open up the Settings app
- Scroll down and select Device Care before tapping Battery
- Tap on Battery Protection and choose between Basic, Adaptive, and Maximum modes.
Enable Auto Reboots
Every phone needs to be rebooted once in a while, it helps keep the performance and organization of the handset in excellent running condition. It’s easy to forget to restart the phone regularly, which is why the Auto Restart feature is so useful.
- Open the Settings app and select Device Care
- This time, you’ll want to choose the Auto Optimization option
- Now, you can choose between letting the Galaxy S24 decide when it needs to reboot and setting a schedule so it restarts when it’s most convenient for your purposes.
Change Video Resolution
Samsung defaults video recording on the Galaxy S24 series to FHD+ resolution, but with such a capable phone, it seems a waste not to bump that up to 4K/UHD resolution and 60FPS.
- Open up the Camera app and tap on Video
- Now you need to tap on the resolution setting (where it says UHD 60 in the screenshot) at the top of the app and choose between HD/FHD/UGH/8K and whether you want 30 or 60 Frames-Per-Second (FPS). The higher the frame rate, the smoother the video will appear.
Enable The Color Palette
We all know about switching up the wallpaper to achieve a unique home screen, but with Samsung’s Galaxy S24, the Color Palette feature also allows you to make icons and menus match the color scheme.
- Open up the Settings app and select the Wallpaper and Style option
- Next, you’ll want to tap on Color Palette
- Toggle the Color Palette button, then choose whether to use a basic color or a selection of colors inspired by your wallpaper.

Lock screen widgets are making a limited comeback, and you can customize them on your Galaxy S24 handset with a few taps of your finger. Whether you want to make a widget bigger or smaller, add more, or remove some, it’s easy to achieve when following the steps below.
- First, you’ll need to long-press the Lock Screen
- You can then add or remove widgets and make them bigger or smaller according to your taste. Unfortunately, widget options are limited to Samsung’s own apps, but at least it’s a start.
Switch To Gesture Navigation
If you skipped past the choice when setting the phone up or just fancy trying something different, switching from three-button navigation to gestures is easy.
- Open up the Settings app and select Display
- Then, you’ll want to tap on the Navigation Bar, where you’ll be allowed to switch to or from Swipe Gestures. While you are there, you can also choose to disable the Circle to Search function if it’s something that bothers you.
Want more widgets on your display but don’t want to swipe pages on your home screen? Samsung has you covered with its Stackable Widgets function that lets you stack widgets of the same size on top of each other. These ‘Stacked Widgets’ are then accessible by swiping on the widget. It’s easy enough to set up with the following steps.
- Long press on the widget you’d like to start the stacking process with
- You’ll now be given a range of widget options (both first- and third-party widgets) from which to choose a widget of a similar size.
- Once you’ve found the right widget, click add. Then, swipe left or right on the Stackable Widget on the home screen to access the other widgets.
