Wuthering Waves Pity System
For Wuthering Waves‘s Convene (summons), different pity mechanics are in play. Most of them guarantee a 5-star pull if you haven’t gotten one within the first 79 tries, and refresh the ‘timer’ if you manage to do so before the 80th pull (e.g. the pity count refreshes if you acquire a 5-star Resonator on the 50th pull).
By understanding the pity system, you can systematically plan how to use your limited Convene currencies, each being:
- Lustrous Tide (summon Resonators and Weapons)
- Radiant Tide (summon Featured Resonators)
- Forging Tide (summon Featured Weapons)
How Does Pity Work?
As explained earlier, Wuthering Waves‘s Convene pity triggers if you fail to get a 5-star pull (be it a Resonator or Weapon) before its pre-determined summoning count (e.g. on the 80th try).
In Wuthering Waves, there are three (3) types of Convene pity:
Guaranteed Choice | You’re guaranteed to get the chosen 5-star Resonator/ Weapon if failing to get them within the specified number of pulls. |
Standard Pull | You’ll get a random 5-star Resonator/ Weapon if failing to get any within the specified number of pulls. |
Featured Pull | 1) You have a 50% chance of getting the Featured Resonator/ Weapon if failing to get them within the specified number of pulls.
2) If failing to get the Featured Resonator/ Weapon during the first pity, the next 5-star Resonator/ Weapon summoned is guaranteed to be the Featured one |
Wuthering Waves Convene Banners
After understanding how Wuthering Waves‘s Convene pity works, let’s check out all the available Convene Banners you can pull your favorite Resonators and Weapons from:
Novice Convene
The Novice Convene is a one-time Banner that gives you a guaranteed 5-star Resonator within the first 50 pulls. Additionally, a 10-pull’s price is discounted by 20%, leaving you with more left-over Lustrous Tides to use or save for later.
This Banner is only available after you’ve completed the game’s introductory Utterance of Marvels‘s questline, and will be replaced by the Beginner’s Choice Convene (explained further below) once exhausted.
Convene Pity Explained
Under the Novice Convene, you’ll get your first random 5-star Resonator quicker. This lets you continue your beginning playthrough with at least two (2) 5-star characters on your team (including the protagonist, Rover).
As shared earlier, you’re guaranteed a 5-star Resonator within the first 50 pulls. So, even if the RNG gods don’t favor you, you’ll still get a superb character, plus spare Lustrous Tides to continue summoning or save for future Banners.
Beginner’s Choice Convene
As soon as the Novice Banner is removed, the Beginner’s Choice Banner takes its place. For this one, you can choose between five (5) 5-star Resonators to be guaranteed within its pity count.
These Resonators are:
- Jianxin (Aero)
- Calcharo (Electro)
- Verina (Spectro)
- Lingyang (Fusion)
- Encore (Havoc)
Convene Pity Explained
The Beginner’s Choice Convene slowly integrates you into the Standard one. This time, you’ll receive your chosen 5-star Resonator within the next 80 pulls.
Although this might sound like a lot, you’ll get a bunch of Lustrous Tides for free via rewards and in-game mail very early on, letting you get your next superstar character in no time!
Standard Resonator Convene
The Standard Resonator Convene is Wuthering Waves‘s basic gacha. All Resonators are in its summoning pool, except for limited-time ones that might be released in the future.
This is where you’ll be spending your Lustrous Tides after the Novice Convene and Beginner’s Choice Convene have been used up.
Convene Pity Explained
Now, you’ll need to familiarize yourself with the Standard Resonator Banner, moving forward: a random 5-star Resonator is guaranteed within every 80 pulls, and this count is refreshed every time you acquire one.
This means you can’t decide which 5-star Resonator you’ll be getting, but it’s always guaranteed before the 80th pull or earlier (anywhere between the 1st to 79th pull). The pity will then reset for the next cycle.
Featured Resonator Convene
The Featured Resonator Convene is a time-limited character Banner that increases the rate of a 5-star Resonator. You’ll have a higher chance of summoning them by spending Radiant Tides.
When talking about the better rate, though, this doesn’t mean you’ll have an increased percentage to get a 5-star summon in general (locked at 0.8% chance). Instead, it’s the increased probability of the Featured Resonator appearing IF YOU MANAGE TO PULL FOR A 5-STAR CHARACTER FIRST from the Banner (within 80 pulls).
Convene Pity Explained
Many casual players tend to misunderstand the Featured Resonator Convene’s pity mechanic. Although the Banner markets an increased rate of a 5-star Resonator appearing, it’s only applicable IF you managed to pull for a 5-star summon within its normal gacha chance first (0.8% chance).
So, the Featured Resonator’s pity is actually a Standard Convene Banner but with a slightly better chance of acquiring the specific 5-star character within 80 pulls.
Plus, upon triggering the 5-star summon within 80 pulls during this pity, there’s only a 50% chance of the Featured Resonator appearing (first pity), so you might get someone else instead.
That’s why, for this specific Banner, there’s a second (2nd) pity system working with it, automatically guaranteeing the Featured Resonator once you successfully pull for another 5-star character after the first one.
Conclusively, to 100% get the Featured Resonator under the Banner, you’ll need to be ready to invest Radiant Tides for 160 pulls!
Standard Weapon Convene
The Standard Weapon Convene is the same as the Standard Resonators one, but replacing the characters with Weapons instead.
This is the Banner you’ll be focusing on to get better Weapons or duplicates to enhance your existing Resonators on the team.
Convene Pity Explained
The Standard Weapon Convene works exactly like the Standard Resonator Convene, meaning you’ll get a 5-star Weapon within the next 80 pulls. Afterward, this count resets until the next 5-star Weapon is obtained, and so on.
Featured Weapon Convene
When playing Wuthering Waves, you can get extraordinarily rare and powerful 5-star Weapons too. From the Convene, they’re acquired from the Featured Weapon Banner, and its pity system functions similarly to the Featured Resonator’s, except for its currency, Forging Tides.
Convene Pity Explained
Under the Featured Weapons segment, you’re looking at the exact summoning chances and number of pulls as the Featured Resonator Convene, to guarantee the exclusive 5-star Weapon on show.
The only difference is the currency being utilized for this one, which is the special Forging Tides.
