Headphones are meant to sound great before anything else, and the Sony WH-1000XM5 ticks that box very boldly, with solid bass (if you want exaggerated bass, you might not get it here) and crisp mids and highs.
This pair of headphones wear many medals, and one of the biggest shiniest ones is awarded for the active noise cancelation (ANC) performance, which is pretty frequently cited as the best right now. Commute a lot? Find yourself on airplanes every month? Need to just block everything else out?
