A skilled puppet master, Yinlin combines her puppet, Zapstring, and a Rectifier (weapon) to unleash devastation onto enemies around her. She’s incredible at destroying single targets, has amazing AoE capabilities, and inflicts marks onto foes to pulverize them further.
She does take some build-up to reach her maximum DPS potential, requiring you to have an acute knowledge of her kit and gameplay style.
Active Skills
Yinlin’s offensive capabilities are closely tied to each other, mainly due to her exclusive Sinner’s Mark and Punishment Mark. New players will need time to adjust to her kit, meaning practicing with her outside combat is highly recommended (via the Character Tutorial menu).
Regardless, this is how her kit looks like in-game:
Skills | Effects |
---|---|
Basic Attack Zapstring’s Dance |
Basic Attack Yinlin controls the puppet Zapstring to attack up to 4 times, dealing Electro Damage. A successful Basic Attack inflicts a Sinner’s Mark onto foes. Heavy Attack Mid-air Attack Dodge Counter |
Resonance Skill Magnetic Roar |
Magnetic Roar Yinlin uses Zapstring to attack a target, dealing Electro Damage and triggering Yinlin’s *Execution Mode. *Execution Mode One sequence of Basic Attack or Dodge Counter can only trigger Electromagnetic Blast once, for a total of up to 4 times. Lightning Execution Perform Lightning Execution once to deal significant Electro Damage to a target, ending Yinlin’s Execution Mode. Hitting an enemy with a Sinner’s Mark deals extra damage. |
Resonance Liberation Thundering Wrath |
Yinlin uses Zapstring to summon a large AoE thunder attack, dealing massive Electro Damage and inflicting a Sinner’s Mark. |
Forte Circuit Chameleon Cipher |
Chameleon Cipher When Yinlin’s Judgment Points (Forte Circuit) are maxed, her Heavy Attack is replaced by Chameleon Cipher, consuming all Judgment Points before dealing substantial Electro Damage to a target. Enemies with a Sinner’s Mark struck by Chameleon Cipher will have it changed to a *Punishment Mark that lasts 18 seconds. *Punishment Mark This can only trigger once per second. Judgment Points Basic Attack, Electromagnetic Blast, Resonance Skill: Magnetic Roar, Resonance Skill: Lightning Execution, and Resonance Liberation restore Judgment Points. |
Inherent Skill Pain Immersion |
After using Resonance Skill: Magnetic Roar, Yinlin’s Critical Rate is increased by 15% for 5 seconds. |
Inherent Skill Deadly Focus |
Resonance Skill: Lightning Execution’s damage is increased by 10% when hitting foes suffering from a Sinner’s Mark, besides improving Yinlin’s Attack by 10% for 4 seconds when this triggers. |
Intro Skill Raging Storm |
Commands Zapstring to attack the enemy, dealing Electro Damage. |
Outro Skill Strategist |
The oncoming Resonator replacing Yinlin gains +20% Electro Damage and +25% Resonance Liberation, lasting 14 seconds or ending once the character is switched again. |
As you can see, her kit can be complex for Wuthering Waves newcomers. That being said, Yinlin is a monster on the battlefield at the hands of a seasoned player, especially when paired with Resonators who can benefit from her Electro Damage effects!
Resonance Chain
For players who are prepared to go all in to get Yinlin’s dupes (either through Convene summons or the Convene Items Exchange), the extra effort is rewarded by making her even deadlier.
Sequence Node 1 | Resonance Skill: Magnetic Roar and Resonance Skill: Lightning Execution deal 70% more damage. |
Sequence Node 2 | Resonance Skill’s Electromagnetic Blast recovers an additional 5 Judgment Points and 5 Resonance Energy for Yinlin, per hit. |
Sequence Node 3 | Judgment Strike triggered upon enemies with a Punishment Mark (via Yinlin’s Forte Circuit) now does 55% increased Damage. |
Sequence Node 4 | When Yinlin’s Forte Circuit’s Judgment Strike hits a target, all team members’ Attack increases by 20% for 12 seconds. |
Sequence Node 5 | Thundering Wrath (Resonance Liberation) deals 100% extra damage to targets with a Sinner’s Mark or Punishment Mark. |
Sequence Node 6 | Within 30 seconds after casting Thundering Wrath (Resonance Liberation), Yinlin’s Basic Attack triggers Furious Thunder, dealing Electro Damage equal to 419.59% of Yinlin’s Attack.
Each Basic Attack triggers Furious Thunder once, for a total of up to 4 times. Furious Thunder’s damage is considered Resonance Skill Damage. |
Each Resonance Chain unlocked bolsters Yinlin’s lethality to a whole new level, making her feel somewhat overpowered (in a good way!). She’s still a bit squishy to enemy attacks, so make sure to be on point with your Dodges.
Yinlin Best Builds
Yinlin Build Overview
Best Weapon
Rectifier | Effect(s) |
---|---|
Stringmaster |
Increases the Damage Bonus of all Resonance Attributes by 12%.
When Resonance Skill hits a target, Attack is increased by 12%, stacking up to 2 times. When the equipped character is off the field, increase their ATK by another 12%. |
Just like its name, the Stringmaster is the perfect Rectifier for the puppet master, Yinlin.
Noting how Yinlin’s most damaging attacks come from her Resonance Skill and Resonance Liberation combo, the Attack bonus from the Stringmaster becomes such a vital component to her combat style.
Best Echo
For Yinlin’s best Echo, you can opt for either one of these depending on the playstyle you favor playing her:
Echo | Effect(s) |
---|---|
Tempest Mephis |
Ability Transform into a Tempest Mephis to perform tail swings and a claw attack. The tail swings summon a lightning strike dealing 59% Electro Damage each, while the claw attack deals 158% Electro Damage. Afterward, the Resonator’s Electro Damage is increased by 12%, and Heavy Attack Damage is increased by 12%, lasting 15 seconds. Cooldown: 25 seconds |
Thundering Mephis |
Ability Transform into a Thundering Mephis, engaging in a rapid assault of up to 6 strikes. The first 5 strikes deal 50% Electro Damage each, while the final attack inflicts 249% Electro Damage, supplemented by an extra 41% Electro Damage from a thunderstrike. Afterward, the Resonator’s Electro Damage is increased by 12%, and Heavy Attack Damage is increased by 12%, lasting 15 seconds. Cooldown: 25 seconds |
Yinlin Best Teams
Pure Electro
These three (3) synergize exceptionally well, particularly since they’re all Electro-type Resonators.
For this team, Calcharo is the primary damage dealer while Yinlin becomes the sub-DPS, zapping enemies while planting Punishment Marks before boosting the next Resonator’s Electro Damage and Ult Damage once switched out.
Although some people downplay Yuanwu, his Skill and Ult continue to assist the team while he’s off the field. Not to forget; his Outro Skill helps weaken enemies’ Vibration Strength, which is nifty against Elites and Bosses.
Main DPS
Yinlin can also be your primary DPS specialist, using all her kit’s arsenal by maximizing the use of Sinner’s Mark, Punishment Mark, and Electromagnetic Blast.
Sanhua and Verina provide alternative elemental damage when you need more than just Electro Damage; both are also amazing Glacio and Spectro fighters. Otherwise, to support Yinlin, Sanhua’s Outro Skill empowers her attacks when switched out, and Verina is still the game’s most OP healer to date!
Yinlin Ascension Materials
Getting Yinlin to her maximum level (Level 90) requires substantial item investment. It’s understandable, though, considering she’s one of the strongest 5-star characters in the game.
Here’s the breakdown for each of her Ascension:
Ascension | Materials |

With Yinlin’s Ascension materials now clear, you can plan your item usage accordingly, saving the listed materials from being used by other Resonators for their Ascensions, especially those you’re not planning on building.
