OnePlus 13 to appear with 2K display and bigger battery
Popular Leaker, Digital Chat Station, has revealed specifications for the next OnePlus flagship on their Weibo account. The OnePlus 13 will have a 2K iso-depth micro-curved screen, meaning a high-resolution and a subtle curve on the edges. It’s most likely going to use depth-sensing technology, which will improve facial recognition or augmented reality (AR) experiences.
There’s also a “new silicon super-large battery”, although the exact capacity is unknown. But what it tells us is that there’s now larger capacity and longer usage time between charges compared to the 5,400mAh OnePlus 12 phone. The new phone is rumored to support wireless charging, which is a relief. There were previous rumours suggesting no wireless charging. Plus, fast charging speed has increased from 80W on the OnePlus 12 to 100W.
As for the cameras, the OnePlus 13 features three 50MP cameras on the rear; a main camera, a telephoto camera with three times optical zoom, and likely an ultrawide camera. Again, the leaker didn’t provide detailed specs for the aperture and sensor size, and there’s no mention of the selfie camera. It’s worth noting that the cameras have Hasselblad branding. Hasselblad is a renowned camera manufacturer known for its high-quality optics and image processing.
Fingerprint sensor, Haptic feedback, and more specs for OnePlus 13
OnePlus 13 will come with an in-display fingerprint sensor that uses ultrasonic waves to create a 3D map of your fingerprint for authentication. It’s usually more secure and accurate than optical fingerprint sensors that capture 2D images and are easier to fool with fake fingerprints.
OnePlus has also included a super-large X-axis motor for powerful haptic feedback. Your phone will vibrate more realistically during typing, gaming, and notifications interactions. Plus, the phone may support IP68 or IP69 dust and water resistance.
Although IP68 is more common, IP69 will be a game-changer as the phone will not only have stronger seals but also survive high-pressure and high-temperature water sprays from close range. IP68 typically means that your device is protected against dust ingress and can withstand immersion in water up to a certain depth for a long time.
When will OnePlus 13 launch?
The OnePlus 13 won’t launch until Q1 of 2025. It’s still a long way from now, although it may debut in China first by the end of 2024. Pricing is still a mystery, but you should expect anything between $699 and $800. The OnePlus 12 had a starting price of $799, which you could drop to $699 if you took advantage of the brand’s trade in offer. Hopefully, the offer remains on the table when the next flagship arrives.
