Vivo’s V40 Series Launches With Pro-Grade Portrait Mode

Vivo’s new mid-range V40 series, which includes the V40 and V40 Pro smartphones, is out now (well, only in India for now). The phones are designed to make portrait photography look amazing, thanks to a camera system developed with ZEISS. They also have a big 5,500 mAh battery and are the slimmest phones the brand has made yet. Both feature powerful 50MP cameras, and should enter other major markets soon.

Vivo V40 series presents Superior Portraits and Zoom Performance

Vivo’s latest V40 phone uses a dual rear camera setup, while the Pro phone carries three cameras. The V40 has a 50-megapixel wide main camera, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera. The V40 Pro adds an extra telephoto camera to the combination, and it provides additional flexibility for photography compared to the V40.

The 1/1.56-inch large sensor and wide f/1.88 aperture on the Zeiss main camera for both phones are designed to perform well in dark or dim conditions. Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) is also available to reduce blurriness and keep photos sharp and steady, even when you’re moving or in tricky lighting. The V40 Pro uses the Sony IMX921 sensor, while the V40 uses a Samsung ISOCELL GNJ sensor. The Sony IMX921 can zoom in 2x optically and up to 50x digitally to give you clear shots of distant subjects.

With V40 series, we’ve focused on blending powerful mobile portrait photography, lasting battery performance and sleek design as a way to enhance the overall user experience. We partnered with ZEISS to co-engineer a professional-level portrait system that provides endless opportunities for creativity and self-expression.

Pro-Grade Portraits, Cinematic Video, and Power-Packed Performance

The V40 series adds some interesting features for mobile photography. With Multifocal Portrait, you can use different focal lengths, like 24 mm, 35 mm, and 50 mm on the V40, or up to 100 mm on the V40 Pro, to get professional-looking portraits. These different settings help you get the right look for your photos.

The series also includes easy-to-use portrait templates that help you take great photos in different scenarios. Each focal length comes with special color settings and Style Bokeh effects to make your portraits look even better.

You can even shoot 4K videos with a classic film look using the Cinematic Bokeh Video feature. There’s a Focus Transition feature that keeps the main subject in focus. The V40 Pro has an upgraded Aura Light for better portrait lighting, and both models use AI 3D Studio Lighting to improve photos in low light.

In terms of performance, both phones aren’t lacking. You’ll find big 5500 mAh battery that charges quickly. The V40 Pro uses the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ processor, while the V40 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, both with up to 12GB of RAM. They also have a bright 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Dual Stereo Speakers.

Pricing starts at ₹48999 (roughly $583) for the V40 and ₹54,999 (roughly $655) for the V40 Pro. If you prebook them now, you can get them at discounted prices of ₹41,999 ($500) and ₹49,999 ($595) respectively.
