There is a mountain of iPad cases to choose from, but the Torras Ostand case stands out with thin, stable kickstands and a sturdy build.

Apple’s iPad lineup can be used in many configurations thanks to a modular nature. The Torras Ostand iPad case helps to make iPad a better tablet while offering multiple viewing angles for desktop use as well.

An iPad case should be as versatile as the device it’s protecting. A simple, flimsy kickstand, thick padding, and clumsy Apple Pencil straps are the industry’s go-to way too often.

Torras has found a perfect blend of protective design, thinness, and utility with its iPad case.

Torras Ostand iPad Case design & features

Apple’s iPad lineup is thinner than ever, so it’s frustrating to see so many cases that deeply compromise that thinness for not much protection at all. However, Torras found a great balance with the Ostand iPad case.

The case only adds a quarter-inch of thickness, so the iPad remains thin and light in your hand. The kickstand is built into the case, so it doesn’t add any thickness.

The Apple Pencil is protected from accidentally being knocked off by a small cutout. Thanks to the design, it is still attached magnetically and charged, but it won’t fall off into your bag.

Rethinking the kickstand with Torras Ostand

The star of the show is the Tora-Hold hinge for the dual kickstand. The Torras Ostand iPad case has two integrated kickstands made from aerospace-grade alloy.

The smaller side is great for propping the iPad up as a drawing table. The larger side offers multiple viewing options in portrait and landscape.

Other iPad cases with integrated kickstands tend to be bulky and single-use. They pop out and hold the iPad up at a not-always-ideal angle that can’t be adjusted.

The Torras Ostand iPad case solves these issues by offering two kickstands. The smaller kickstand can also be used as a handle for better stability while holding or carrying the iPad.

The hinges have been tested to provide stability even after 30,000 uses. You’re going to have a tough time wearing this case out.

Layers of protection

The material construction of the Torras Ostand iPad case relies on multiple layers for extra protection. It is built to be as protective as possible without being too thick or bulky.

The outer frame is made from a shock-absorbing TPU material. It has precise cutouts for the speakers, charger, and Top Button. The volume buttons are built into the case so they are protected when pressed against a table or surface.

Even though there isn’t a front cover or flap, the iPad display is still protected from certain dangers thanks to a raised lip around the edge. If the iPad drops and lands flat display-down, the case will prevent the display from directly impacting a flat surface.

The back cover is made from a rugged polycarbonate topped by a nano-oleophobic layer. The outer shell has an anti-smudge matte coating, which also helps keep the case attractive.

This case provides enough protection through the multi-layer construction, supported by the side wraps, and back cover construction. It offers 12-foot drop protection and even has 360 degrees of protection with built-in air cushioning at the edge.

A five-in-one iPad case solution

Whether you’re using the iPad as a drawing tablet, notepad, vertical Mac monitor, movie screen, or game console, you’ll want a case that can work great for all these configurations. Torras Ostand has at least five modes of use for your modular computer.

Open the smaller kickstand and place the iPad on a table for a sturdy drawing easel or touch gaming surface. The kickstand won’t accidentally collapse or fold from the pressure of your hand or taps.

Open the larger kickstand for a more vertical position to better watch video. It’s easy to pick the perfect angle for you, as there’s plenty of play between the most open and near-closed extremes.

With the large kickstand open perpendicular to the case, you can turn the iPad to portrait orientation. This is great paired with a keyboard for writing or perhaps a FaceTime call on iPads that have portrait-orientation front-facing cameras.

And, of course, when it’s time to use the iPad as a tablet, fold everything up and use the iPad normally. It’s comfortable in hand and not too heavy — adding only 0.63 pounds to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
