Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra May Be The S25 Note; Here’s A Look

The Samsung Galaxy Note series was the go-to smartphone for Samsung users who wanted the South Korean’s most unbridled take on a mobile device. They came with massive screens, plenty of power, and a secret weapon: the S Pen.

However, when Samsung introduced its foldables, it seemed to think that there was no need to have a Note line anymore. It got rid of that family, to much dismay, leaving its H2 launches for its foldables and integrating the Note DNA into its S Ultra phone. However, it seems the spirit of the Note shall return, at least in name, for 2025’s flagship.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Series May Experience A Major Change In Its Naming Scheme, A Rumor Says

Right now, I have a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Before that, I had a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+. I had a taste of Samsung’s Note recipe and I couldn’t let go, so when I heard the company was planning to say goodbye to the Note lineup, it was disappointing news. However, that DNA ended up being passed on to the biggest phone in the Galaxy S lineup, and once again, everything was right in the world.

I’m eagerly anticipating what Samsung is going to cook up with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, but it seems one thing that’s going to happen is a massive shakeup of the naming system that we’ve all started getting used to. Samsung might bring back the Note branding — not as its own standalone family, but just for the Ultra device, which could end up as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Note, according to Yogesh Brar.

Now, I’m not quite sure why Samsung would want to do this. The “Ultra” tag on any smartphone gives us a good indication that there’s plenty of power and people have gotten used to it. Suddenly going back to Note is bound to be confusing. It also seems like the S25+ might also be switched to the S25 Pro. Obviously, this is just a rumor and could entirely not pan out, as I find it hard to see the reason behind such a change.

In a subsequent tweet, Yogesh mentions how the branding for the S25 Ultra is already set in stone, but posits that it might apply to the S26 family instead. Either way, I don’t think I’m a particular fan of the change as I struggle to see the point.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra/Note Will Get Rid Of Those Extremely Sharp Corners

In other news that seems to be a bit more reliable, famed Samsung tipster Ice Universe has let us in on what the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra might look like thanks to a mock-up. For those who have never been a fan of the device’s sharp corners, you can rejoice, as it seems they’ll be rounded off just a tad.

The device will maintain a degree of boxiness but without poking into your hands. As much as I liked the sharp corners, I think the change is done tastefully enough that I can’t hate it. In fact, I quite like it. It has also been rumored the back panel will meld into the frame with rounded edges, while the front will maintain a right angle with the frame. That should maintain the device’s appearance from the front but make it better to hold.

The smartphone is also expected to have a better screen-to-body ratio, which should give the large phone a smaller footprint. There have been a lot of rumors regarding the device, from faster storage to better battery life, but only time will tell.
