In addition to tech business news, Business Insider tests and reviews tech products across all categories, including TVs, phones, wearables, headphones, and tech accessories. The Insider Reviews tech team comprises in-house and freelance experts who offer the best recommendations and buying advice, thanks to their many years of experience and in-depth knowledge of the products, services, and companies they cover.

TVs: TVs are major tech purchases, so we carefully evaluate and vet every television we recommend. We test models for all budgets, from entry-level TVs to OLED TVs, across all the major brands, including Sony, LG, Samsung, Vizio, and more. We also recommend the best TVs by size, whether it’s the popular 65-inch model, an 85-inch big screen for home theaters, or a smaller 55-inch for apartments.

Smartphones: Our reporters review and test smartphones across all price points and brands, including Apple’s iPhone, Samsung’s Galaxy lineup, Google’s Pixel phones, and more. We also review top mobile accessories and phone cases from Otterbox, Incipio, Speck, and other popular brands.

Smartphone cameras are an important feature. We test by taking photos and shooting videos in various conditions, and then analyzing the results.

Smartwatches and wearables: Smartwatches and wearables have taken over the tech world over the past decade. We review wearables like the Fitbit lineup, Apple Watch, Samsung’s watches, and more.

Speakers and headphones: Audio products range from smart speakers and Bluetooth speakers to soundbars and wireless earbuds. We test speakers, home theater systems, and headphones from top brands like the Amazon Echo, Google Nest, Sony, Bose, Beats, Sennheiser, and more.

Apple products: Apple’s MacBooks, iPads, iPhones, Apple Watches, AirPods, and other devices are among the most popular tech devices. Our senior tech reporter is an expert in all things Apple and reviews the latest models.

Other tech products: The Insider Reviews team also covers a variety of tech-related products, such as gaming, which includes gaming consoles, laptops, and accessories; computing and office devices; smart home components; gadgets and accessories; and more.

How Insider Reviews test tech products

In addition to a series of tests, we analyze tech products by using them daily in the real world. We run through a device’s battery cycle and use benchmark software like Geekbench to determine what kind of performance users can expect out of a device in the short term and long term. We validate a manufacturer’s claim if it seems too good to be true, and we check for durability when it’s warranted. After we test every tech product, we consider its overall value and compare it to competitors to ensure that every recommendation is accurate, fair, and worth your money. Our experts have also created a collection of how-to tech reference articles to help users get the most out of their products.
