OnePlus Open Apex Edition Pricing Revealed; Expectedly Pricey

About a month ago, OnePlus announced its OnePlus Open Apex Edition smartphone. Considering that the OnePlus Open came out last year, many were expecting the OnePlus Open 2 this year. Unfortunately, it seems like we’ll need to wait until 2025 for that.

The OnePlus Open Apex Edition brings a sexy new colorway, acquires faster RAM and more storage, and of course, brings new AI features to what is still essentially a year-old device. OnePlus wants even more money than what the OnePlus Open launched for. Is that worth it?

The OnePlus Open Apex Edition Is Going To Cost $1,899 In The United States

If you’re a big fan of foldables or a big fan of OnePlus, or even both, your eyes are very likely to be fixed firmly on the allure of the new OnePlus Open Apex Edition. It won’t be hard for people to know that you have the Apex Edition of the smartphone since it is the only one that comes in that incredibly attractive Crimson Shadow colorway. I think that’s my favorite part of the device.

The only thing is, if you want to get this foldable, you need to be ready to pay a pretty hefty price, as OnePlus has finally made its pricing official in the major regions it will be selling in. In the United States, you’re going to have to drop $1,899 for it, which is the same price as the brand-new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. In Europe, it will set you back €1,799, and in the United Kingdom, that’s £1,499.

You can pre-order the device right away and general availability starts on September 3rd.

Partake In Plenty Of Pre-Order Perks

The OnePlus Open Apex Edition is certainly an expensive smartphone but the pricing isn’t exactly mind-boggling. That’s where you’ll find most foldables. The good thing is that you’ll have access to a bunch of pre-order deals and free gifts when buying the phone.

In the United States, you can get the OnePlus Keyboard 81 Pro or the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 included as a free gift if you pre-order (yes, entirely free). You can also bundle it with devices like the OnePlus Buds Pro 3, OnePlus Watch 2, and OnePlus Watch 2R, and get up to 33% off the bundled accessory. Plus, trading in any device, in any condition, will get you a guaranteed $100 discount.

Is The OnePlus Open Apex Edition’s Full Price Worth Mostly Year-Old Hardware?

The OnePlus Open Apex Edition doubles the storage of the regular OnePlus Open, gets faster RAM, brings an exclusive and very alluring new Crimson Shadow colorway, and gets new software features like VIP Mode and a lot of AI magic. The question is, considering it launches at full price, OnePlus is pricing it like a full sequel. Is that worth it?

Personally, I don’t know. A $1,899 price tag puts it right beside the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and when comparing their specs, the OnePlus option surprisingly holds its own (at least on paper). However, a true successor might have brought a bigger battery, a sleeker design, better water resistance, and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 instead of the Gen 2.

If you go for this device regardless, you won’t be disappointed. I’m just not sure if it is the best value for money in the foldable segment in 2024.
