Acer released two new gaming laptops to its Nitro V series, the Acer Nitro V 14 and the Acer Nitro V 16. The Nitro V 14 is the more portable of the two, but the Nitro V 16 is marketed towards entry-level gamers and students.
The Nitro V 14 is the smaller and more mobile of the two laptops. It features a 14.5-inch display, an AMD Ryzen 8040 Series processor, and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop discrete graphics card. This means it has a good battery life on top of impressive performance. The Nitro V 16, on the other hand, has a 16-inch display, an Intel Core 14th Gen processor (Intel Core i7-14650HX), and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU.
The GPU for the Nitro V 16 is slightly better than the 4050, but it still isn’t the best one offered by NVIDIA. So it’s small enough of a difference for any gamer to choose their laptop based on the processor they prefer. The Nitro V 14 has an AMD Ryzen 8040 with a dedicated NPU. While the Intel Core i7-14650HX does have an NPU, it’s not technically a dedicated NPU like the AMD Ryzen 8040. The NPU in the Intel processor is integrated into the CPU core, sharing resources with other CPU functions. Essentially, if you plan on using AI more heavily, the Nitro V 14 is a better bet.
Both laptops have many features for gamers and students. These include high refresh rate displays, advanced cooling systems, and support for AI-powered features like NVIDIA DLSS 3.5. The GPU for both is able to play highly demanding games, so you likely won’t need to upgrade for a while. Both laptops come with a variety of display options, including WQXGA and WUXGA resolutions. Both laptops also have a 32 GB DDR5 memory and up to a 2 TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD.
