One Of The Best Foldables, The Honor Magic V3, Is Now Global

The foldable market is one where everyone needs to bring their A-game. The phones cost way too much to release a device that doesn’t provide the level of value that the average consumer expects from such cutting-edge devices.

That’s part of what makes the Honor Magic V3 so exciting. It is arguably the best foldable in the world, but it launched as a China-exclusive device, which was a massive shame. Well, now is a time to rejoice, as Honor has just unveiled the Magic V3 at IFA 2024, marking its global release.

The Honor Magic V3 Has The Hardware To Battle With The Best Of Them; Foldable Or Not

Each half of a foldable is much slimmer than the average slab smartphone. That brings a lot of limitations regarding the hardware that you can fit inside these devices. It’s why we’ve mostly been forgiving of weaker hardware despite the much higher price points. However, some manufacturers, such as Honor, have been able to somehow circumvent those hurdles and deliver excellent specs despite the form factor.

The Honor Magic V3 is literally the thinnest foldable in the world — at 9.2mm when folded and only 226g in weight — which makes its hardware more impressive. You get a 6.43-inch cover display and a 7.92-inch internal display, both of which are LTPO OLED with a 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision. There’s 4,320Hz PWM dimming as well. You still get the power of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in that body, with up to a 16GB/1TB configuration.

The camera configuration is hardly anything to sneer at either. We’re talking a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 50MP 3.5x periscope telephoto camera with OIS, and a 40MP ultrawide. You get a selfie camera on each screen; both 20MP lenses. Honor doesn’t let the slimness stop them from packing in a 5,150 mAh cell with support for 66W wired charging, AND 50W wireless charging. It almost sounds too good to be true.

Honestly, using the spec sheet alone, it’s hard to say that the Honor Magic V3 isn’t one of the best — if not the best — foldable that you can get right now. Wi-Fi 7, an IR blaster, IPX8 water resistance, stylus compatibility, and DisplayPort 1.2 support come together to seal the deal — it’s an absolute winner.

Needless to say, if the Honor Magic V3 is going to stay entirely competitive, it has to come with all the new-fangled AI features that most other manufacturers are incorporating.

Your Android 14 experience with the Magic V3 will give you access to features like AI Eraser and Face to Face Translation, along with Honor’s AI Portrait Engine and AI Motion Sensing when using the camera.
