One UI 6.1.1 Has Started Rolling Out To 2023 Galaxy Devices

One UI 6.1.1 is Samsung’s first major update since the release of the monumental One UI 6.1, which brought the power of Galaxy AI along with it. While the latter has been shared among a lot of Samsung’s devices, not only flagships, One UI 6.1.1 is still fresh off the presses and was only on the sixth-generation of foldables and the S24 series.

Well, that’s started to change right now. If you’ve got yourself any of the Samsung flagship phones that were made last year, both phones and tablets alike, the rollout for One UI 6.1.1 has officially started and it should get to your device in no time.

There’s nothing I love more than a fresh new software update moseying its way over to my smartphone. This year, we saw One UI 6.1, and now that the second half of the year is well underway, One UI 6.1.1 is the latest new update on the table. While it isn’t coming to my S22 Ultra which was released in 2022, essentially all of Samsung’s flagship devices from 2023 will be getting the update. In fact, it’s started rolling out in some regions now.

If you have either of the fifth-generation foldables — the Galaxy Z Flip 5 or the Galaxy Z Fold 5 — then you’re eligible. The rollout has started in South Korea already, Samsung’s home country, and it should gradually trickle out to all other regions within the next few weeks. However, there’s no definite timeline for when this is going to happen.

That’s not all though. At the beginning of last year, Samsung came out with the Samsung Galaxy S23 family of smartphones. Similarly, if you live in South Korea, you would have already seen the update on any of these smartphones as it has started rolling out. In fact, even the Galaxy S23 FE which came out in October 2023 is being shown the same love. The Galaxy Tab S9 lineup is also included. Other regions should see their updates soon.

One UI 6.1.1 Brings A Few Additions To The Galaxy AI Suite Of Features

At the current moment, my smartphone is not on the slate of devices that are confirmed to be getting One UI 6.1.1 (though as long as I get One UI 7 — which I should — I’m fine). But the question is, what new features does it bring, and should I want it that much?

Well, as most updates do, One UI 6.1.1 brings some quality-of-life improvements by killing bugs, patching software vulnerabilities, and improving performance where applicable. It adds the ability to answer phone calls with a tap on the Answer button (instead of a swipe) and allows phone calls to go straight into speakerphone when you pick them up.

However, most people are here to know about the new Galaxy AI features it comes with. One UI 6.1.1 brings the new Portrait Studio feature, as well as the more anticipated Sketch to Image, which uses the power of AI to turn basic sketches into polished images. You can even sketch onto real photographs to add new elements. Pretty cool.
