Flat Screens Are Back: Vivo X200 Joins The Party + Camera Samples

If you’re an Android enthusiast living in Europe or North America and you want to use amazing devices that you won’t find in everyone’s hands, Chinese manufacturers are the answer to your problems. For instance, Vivo released the X100 last year and the entire series was amazing.

In a few weeks, we’re bound to see the Vivo X200 show up. It’s particularly exciting because it’ll be following up on one of the most underrated phones of last year while also being one of the first in line for the Dimensity 9400. Today, we get nearly a full glance at its design updates and camera samples.

The Vivo X200 Is Going With A Flat Screen; Are Flat Screens Back To Being Trendy?

If you hang around the streets of Weibo, you’ll frequently get insights into upcoming smartphones from Chinese manufacturers. What’s cool is that I’m not even referring to leaks; many times, company execs are given the green light to reveal things about upcoming devices. That’s the case today, where Vivo’s product manager has given us a pretty good look at the Vivo X200 placed right beside the Vivo X100.

With this, we get a very easy glance at how the design of the device will change—at least in some parts. Starting with the screen, Vivo seems to have given up on curved displays, as the Vivo X200 will change to a flat display. Personally, I’m a big fan of flat screens and it is interesting to see many manufacturers moving away from the gimmick; Samsung being the most notable example. The camera punch-hole seems to get smaller too.

The bezels around the screen seem to get thinner too. Vivo takes advantage of a flat display to also give the device a completely flat and polished metal frame. That’s the trendy thing these days, so no surprise they moved in that direction.

Simply put, it looks set to be a good-looking device from the front and sides, if not blending into the crowd a bit too much.

Our First Look At Its Camera Performance Leaves Us Feeling Satisfied

The Vivo X100 family had some real camera juggernauts. The Vivo X100 Ultra, for one, came with a killer 200MP periscope telephoto camera that put it on the map. So, you might be very interested in what the regular Vivo X200 will be able to do as that’ll be the basis for the whole lineup’s camera performance.

Well, from our first look at the state of things, through official camera samples provided (again) by Vivo’s product manager, Han Boxiao, it looks like you’ll have nothing to worry about. The Zeiss collaboration doesn’t go anywhere and the Vivo X200’s camera seems to be a safe option if you’re big on photography.

Plus, it looks like the Vivo X200’s telephoto camera will also come with some macro magic as the above sample shows up. The quality looks amazing too, especially when you see how small the cluster of mushrooms is in the first shot.

It seems that we can expect the Vivo X200 to launch on October 10th, with the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 inside it, and we’ll be here to let you know everything when the time comes.
