The Google Pixel 9 series came earlier than expected this year and a seeming consequence of that was that Google couldn’t manage to release Android 15 alongside its new smartphones, unlike usual. Seemingly stemming from that, there’s been a lot of uncertainty regarding Samsung’s release schedule for One UI 7.
One good thing that we can confirm is that the beta for One UI 7 won’t exclusively be for developers as it might have seemed. There will be a public beta for One UI 7 as well, which is perfect news for those who like to tinker with software updates while they’re still fresh out of the oven.
Samsung Has Confirmed Via A Forum Post That Consumers Will Be Able To Try One UI 7’s Beta
One UI 7 is late to the station. It was at the end of October last year that Samsung first released its predecessor, One UI 6. We know for a fact now, thanks to the official word during SDC24, that One UI 7 is not going to be coming until the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, which would likely mean January 2025.
Of course, before the release version comes out, we expect the beta, and of course, that seems to be equally late. However, during SDC24, Samsung at least let us know that developers could expect to handle the One UI 7 beta before the end of the year. However, they made specific mention of developers and no mention of regular consumers like you and me. It begged the question: would there even be a public beta for One UI 7?
Thankfully, the answer is here, as seen in a post made by a Samsung team member on the company’s US forums. “One UI 7 Beta will be available to public when the schedule is confirmed”, so that’s good news for those who will want to give the new OS a test run before it is released in full.
We Can Expect It Before The End Of The Year But Exact Timing Is Still Uncertain
The big question swinging around regarding One UI 7 still remains the actual release schedule. There’s no date for the beta or even the full release. At the same time, older smartphone owners can’t even tell when One UI 7 will be coming to their devices.
Sure, we have “before the end of this year” to go by, but that could be tomorrow and it could also be New Year’s Eve. Plus, you could even read further and say that timeline only applies to the developer beta and that’s why it was the only one Samsung mentioned on stage. For now, though, all we can do is speculate and I’ll be making a guess at late November.
