iPhone 17 Slim again said to feature just one camera, A19 chip, more

As rumored in the past, Apple is planning a big change to the iPhone lineup next year with an all-new iPhone 17 Slim model. A new report today from reliable analyst Jeff Pu outlines much of what to expect from this new iPhone model.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo highlighted a number of iPhone 17 Slim specs back in July, emphasizing Apple’s focus on form over function. For instance, the iPhone 17 Slim is expected to have just one rear-facing camera and a 6.6-inch display.

In this week’s investor note seen by 9to5Mac, Jeff Pu corroborates many of these details. According to the analyst, here are the specs of the iPhone 17 Slim:

  • Chip: A19
  • Display: 6.6-inches
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Front-camera: 24MP
  • Rear camera: Single 48MP camera
  • Biometrics: Face ID
  • Casing: Aluminum

Pu adds that he expects the iPhone 17 Slim to have an all-new design and form factor, and to serve as a “replacement” for the Plus model. It’s unclear if he is referring to a “replacement” in terms of pricing, screen size, or some other factor. The Information reported in May that the iPhone 17 Slim “could be priced higher than the iPhone Pro Max.”

In terms of performance and specs, Pu reports:

  • iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Slim: 8GB RAM, A19 chip
  • iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max: 12GB RAM, A19 Pro chip

The specs reported by Pu this time around are largely him doubling down on previous reporting. This suggests that Apple’s plans for the iPhone 17 lineup have not changed, at least as of right now. The iPhone 17 lineup, however, won’t actually be announced until September 2025, so there is still plenty of time for things to change based on production and supply chain issues and other factors.

Based on what we know right now, would you be interested in the so-called iPhone 17 Slim if it features a dramatically new design? Let us know in the comments.
