Mint Mobile has launched a new wireless plan specifically designed for children. The Mint Kids plan offers unlimited talk and text, 5GB of data, and access to T-Mobile’s 5G network for $15 per month.
With Mint Mobile Kids, parents can monitor their child’s data usage and receive alerts about the account. Mint Kids does not require a contract and can be modified or canceled as needed. The plan includes several features often found in regular Mint Mobile plans, like free roaming in Canada, free calling to Mexico and Canada, free mobile hotspots, and Wi-Fi calling. Mint Kids is available for purchase online and will be available at Target stores starting next month. Customers need to make an upfront payment of $45 for a 3-month plan. The introductory rate is valid for the first three months, after which full-price plan options will be available.
The Mint Kids plan is the first of its kind to be offered by Mint Mobile. This is a plan specifically for children, so there are some limitations, like slow speeds if the child goes above 40GB of data in a month. Mint Mobile also gives parents the ability to choose to switch to a higher or lower data plan whenever needed. If a child exceeds their data limit, their speeds will slow down, but they can still use Wi-Fi to stay connected. Surprisingly, Overage charges are not applied.
Mint Kids plans can be purchased individually or added to a Mint Family account. The plan includes all the core features of Mint Mobile’s regular plans, providing children with the same benefits as adults. Mint Mobile also offers a range of phone options for customers, including the Google Pixel 9 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6. These phones are available at discounted rates for a limited time but come with a year of unlimited data for the same price as the 5GB plan.
