Audi Q8 facelift review: New looks, enhanced tech, and unmatched comfort!
Audi Q8 Facelift – Evolution of a classic?

The review is based on Arpit Mahendra’s driving experience and personal observations of the car.
Audi India recently launched the facelifted Q8, priced at Rs 1.17 crore, ex-showroom. While it may be a facelift rather than an all-new model, the changes are significant, bringing new technology and some notable design tweaks. We recently had the chance to experience the updated Q8 firsthand, and here’s our take on it.

Audi Q8 Facelift: Design

At first glance, the Q8’s design updates might not seem dramatic, yet the refreshed grille with its striking new pattern and the redesigned LED headlamps make it more dynamic and aggressive. The LED units are actually customizable, which is a unique touch in this segment.

Moving to the side, the sharp alloy wheels paired with red calipers and new tail lamps add to the sporty appeal. The updates, though subtle, make the Q8 look more refined, modern, and, importantly, expensive – exactly what you’d want in a flagship SUV.

Audi Q8 Facelift: Cabin and features

Stepping inside, the cabin feels familiar yet fresh. Audi has made some tweaks to the panel layout and seat upholstery, giving it a refreshed feel without straying too far from the previous model’s setup. The updated touchscreen interface, infotainment, and instrument cluster bring smoother interactions and additional features, but overall, the cabin remains true to the previous Q8’s layout. The panoramic sunroof adds an open, airy vibe, and while the car can seat five, it’s most comfortable for four. Legroom is generous, and the seats are plush enough to ensure comfort on long journeys.

One of the standout features of the interior is the detailed instrument cluster, which now displays fuel consumption for the air conditioning in real time, giving you insight into your driving efficiency. The screens are intuitive and feature-rich, with a standout function allowing users to switch the LED headlamp design at the touch of a button. This adjustable LED pattern brings a new look to the car based on your mood or occasion, adding freshness to the car’s styling every day. The Q8’s laser headlamps are both powerful and considerate, illuminating the road brilliantly without blinding oncoming traffic.

Audi Q8 Facelift: Ride quality and driving experience

Under the hood, the Q8 retains its powerful V6 turbocharged petrol engine, delivering 340 PS and 500 Nm of torque to all four wheels via Audi’s signature Quattro system and an 8-speed automatic transmission. The drive experience is refined, with minimal turbo lag thanks to excellent calibration and smooth acceleration. This SUV is no sports car, but it’s quick for its class, offering a strong performance whether you’re cruising or pushing it for overtakes on the highway. Shifting is responsive, particularly with the gearbox in sport mode or using the paddle shifters, though it does upshift at around 6,200 RPM in manual mode, which might be a slight letdown for driving enthusiasts.

In terms of ride quality, the Q8 excels, especially with its adjustable drive modes. Set it to comfort mode, and the suspension provides a supple, well-damped ride. What stands out here is the car’s stability at high speeds. Whether you’re tackling road undulations or long highway stretches, the Q8 manages to stay composed with minimal lateral movement, ensuring a smooth experience for all occupants. It’s a handling feat for a luxury SUV of this size, striking a balance between comfort and dynamic ability. While there’s some body roll due to its size, it’s never excessive, even when cornering at speed.

Audi Q8 Review: Brilliant mix of Comfort and Sportiness | TOI Auto

Overall, the Q8 delivers a balanced drive that’s comfortable for passengers and enjoyable for the driver. Audi has packed in plenty of active and passive safety features, making it a well-rounded flagship SUV. While the price tag of Rs 1.17 crore puts it in the premium bracket, the Q8 justifies its cost with high-end features, thoughtful design updates, and a sophisticated cabin experience. It might not be absolute value for money, but it offers ample novelty and appeal in the crowded luxury SUV segment.
