Windows 11 KB5046633 (23H2) has a weird bug where it could incorrectly warn that “Your version of Wundows has reached the end of service” and you need to “Get the newer version of Windows to stay up to date”. You’ll see the following message when you go to the Windows Update page (I’m attaching a screenshot for your reference).
Do you also see the “Get the newer version of Windows to stay up to date” error when you check for updates on Windows 11 after installing November 2024 Patch KB5046633? You’re not alone. Thousands of users have the problem, and one of my devices has also been affected.
Microsoft support representative confirmed to Windows Latest that there’s nothing wrong with my system or anybody else, and this is a known issue being investigated. I’m told that the Windows Update error/warning will automatically disappear in the next few hours, but you can log out of your account or restart to speed up the process.
Support for Windows 11 version 23H2 will end on May 13, 2025, for all editions (like Home, Pro, and Enterprise). This means after that date, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates, bug fixes, or support for this version.
Microsoft is not ending support for Windows 11 23H2.
“This is just a reporting bug on our side”, a Microsoft support representative told Windows Latest.
This is a developing story…
