Following an update that made Custom Feeds available to everyone, the Threads app is getting another huge new feature. Users can finally watch landscape videos in the mobile app – something essential that wasn’t available until now.
Threads now supports landscape videos
The news was confirmed by the Threads team after some users noticed the change. Previously, even if you tapped on a video within the Threads app to view it in full screen, the app wouldn’t rotate for horizontal videos. The latest update to the Threads app changes this, allowing users to watch videos and even view photos in landscape.
“You found it,” the official Threads account replied to a user. 9to5Mac was able to confirm that the feature is indeed now available with the latest update of the iOS app.
Earlier this week, Meta began rolling out the option to let all users create Custom Feeds in Threads. At the same time, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri recently confirmed that the company will be changing its algorithms to prioritize content from accounts you follow. Mosseri also revealed that Threads will soon allow users to search for posts within a specific date range.
More recently, Meta announced that it will start showing ads to users on Threads next year. The move is a result of the platform’s significant growth since it was launched – Threads now has over 200 million monthly active users.
The Threads app is available for free on the App Store and requires an iPhone running iOS 15.1 or later. Make sure you update the app to the latest version in order to get access to the new features.
