This Fits-Any-Body Jumpsuit Is Going Viral in Wirecutter’s Office

Big Bud Press is a small Los Angeles–based clothing company that specializes in unisex, workwear-style clothing that is as size-inclusive as it is cheerful; imagine Rosie the Riveter’s jumpsuit in colors such as swamp green or Mustang red. The company offers sizes from XXS to 6XL in nearly all of its designs, as well as petite sizing with a shortened torso length and shorter inseams.

Big Bud’s owner, founder, and creative director, Lacey Micallef, says, “We work hard on our pieces to make sure it can fit as many people as possible.” In 2017, when she was developing the jumpsuit, she tested the fit on more than 30 people. “Since then, we’ve tested the fit on countless others and have slowly perfected it even further,” she adds.

The jumpsuits look amazing. The thick, 100% cotton denim is flattering and has elastic in the back to cinch your waist. A long zipper extends from crotch to sternum, making the jumpsuit somewhat easier to slip into and out of than other designs, and two snap buttons at the top secure the jumper at two different collar points. Two small pockets at the chest, two long pockets at the hips, and two more on each butt cheek can store phones, credit cards, and keys. Like all good denim, the jumpsuit fits snugly at first but relaxes and expands with wear for a custom-to-your-body fit.

We—Christina and Dorie—have very different builds, each with our own hang-ups (no waist, no butt, respectively), but the jumpsuit miraculously addresses each of them. Christina’s long, rectangular frame looks more hourglass-y due to the cinched waist and fit of the top. The way the legs are shaped makes Dorie’s rear end look round in a way that no amount of weighted squats could ever accomplish. Unbelievably, neither of us gets a camel toe.

It turns out, we aren’t alone in our love for this jumpsuit: Several other Wirecutter staffers own it too, in long sleeves, short sleeves, and several colors. And they each have their own reasons for adoring it.

Our bustier colleagues report that their breasts have room to breathe (no squashed uniboob, and if the fabric was a bit snug on purchase, it let out a bit over time). Wirecutter’s manager of editorial operations, Jessie Mohkami, who wears a size 2XL in petite, described the jumpsuit as “modest sexy.” She loves that the jumpsuit “eventually molds to your body” and after several wears “gets a lived-in feeling without looking worn-out.”

For updates writer Evan Dent, who owns the jumpsuit in pink, the garment started as an art-school bit, the lone statement piece in his closet of mostly button-down shirts and sweaters. “It’s just a fun piece of clothing!” he said.
