But wait, there’s more! This year, my family ventured beyond the cotton long-johns into Hanna Andersson’s vast world of holiday jammies. Both of my daughters, ages 5 and 7, loved the recently introduced HannaSoft Holiday Long John Pajama Set, which is made with 94% Tencel Lyocell, a material derived from wood pulp, and 6% spandex. The result is super silky and stretchy, and the PJs come in about 10 festive prints. Just like the cotton Hanna Andersson long-johns sets, this HannaSoft set runs big, so you may want to size down for a short or petite kid.
For parents, the Women’s Holiday Long Sleeve Pajama Set in HannaSoft is luxuriously smooth, and the thick fabric drapes elegantly. A cloth drawcord and an elastic band keep the pants in place, and though we have not yet tested these PJs for our adult pajama guide, I personally found that a generous front rise helps them sit comfortably at my waist. High-quality buttons and a chic, feminine collar make the top feel special, too. The unisex set comes in a good assortment of sizes (XXS to XXL) but is not as wide-ranging as the Old Navy flannels. Offering about 20 holiday prints to choose from, these PJs provide an abundance of opportunities to match or coordinate. The 100% cotton flannel is sturdy and cozy, and the set feels built to last.
(Note that Hanna Andersson’s kids flannel PJs and nightgowns are made with 100% polyester, likely due to children’s sleepwear regulations. They feel well made and remarkably soft, but because polyester isn’t particularly breathable, my kids found them too hot on most nights, and we don’t recommend them.)
You might as well go for holiday gold and get a matching flannel bandana or holiday pajamas for your four-legged family member. (I couldn’t bring myself to dress my Great Pyrenees mix in dog pajamas, but she looked festive—and unperturbed—in her bandana.)
