T-Mobile Tuesdays Offers The Chance To “Take A Selfie” From Space

T-Mobile Tuesdays have always been a pretty cool incentive from the carrier. You get the chance to get some really cool freebies, simply for being a T-Mobile subscriber on the right plan. There have been some cool things offered by the program in the past, but this one is arguably the coolest.

I’m not trying to be a pessimist, but virtually all of us will never go to space, and most of us won’t even have our existences acknowledged by someone up there. T-Mobile is giving you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to change that. If you’re quick enough, you can have a photo taken of your selfie, all the way up in space.

T-Mobile Is Offering The Very Rare Chance Of Having Your Selfie Photographed In Outer Space

As children, a lot of us might have dreamed of going to space, but as you get older, you start to realize how incredibly exclusive an opportunity it is. A lot of us will just have to do with watching sci-fi movies to imagine ourselves all the way up there, but if you’re a T-Mobile subscriber, you might have a much better chance—perhaps a once-in-a-lifetime one—to see yourself in space.

T-Mobile isn’t about to sponsor a trip to space for you, since that’s incredibly expensive and would require a level of training and fitness that can’t be guaranteed for the average person. Instead, it’ll be doing the next best thing.

Partnering with the popular YouTuber, Mark Rober (remember those glitter-bomb videos to punish porch pirates?), your selfie will be displayed on a smartphone anchored to the SAT GUS satellite that will be taking flight alongside SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket. That phone will be photographed by an attached camera, giving you the chance to see your selfie with the beautiful round earth as your backdrop.

These Space Selfies Are First-Come, First-Serve; And Slots Are Limited

If you’re instantly excited by this, you’re going to want to head on over to your T-Life app right away, redeem a code, and then go to spaceselfie.com, where you can upload your selfie of choice. After that, you simply have to wait until your turn in the (likely very long) queue comes up. Don’t worry, you’ll be given updates as you approach that lucky time.

Keep in mind that there are only limited slots available for this, quite naturally, but SAT GUS will be taking about 1,000 pictures every day, so it should move through the queue at a good pace.

You can start redeeming codes and submitting selfies from today, but the satellite will only launch early next year, and then it might be a few months before selfies start showing up.

Are There Other Ways To Get Space Selfies Codes?

If you’re too late to the T-Life app, don’t be dismayed, since there are other ways that you can get a chance for your selfie to be part of the space scheme. Some Google Pixel owners will get a code, though the selection criteria seems to be uncertain. Potentially Pixel 9 users.

At the same time, if you subscribe to CrunchLabs, the team behind this entire project, you’ll get a code too. You can also get a code with a $30 donation to sponsor a future engineer, so that’s an altruistic way to get yourself in on the action.
