Therefore, when I was offered the PRO Elite V3 USB 3.2 Flash Drive to review, I couldn’t resist.
This handy pocket-sized device comes in 3 capacity options. 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB. I was sent the 512 GB and I couldn’t be happier. This USB 3.2 beast is capable of up to 256 times faster data transfer than any USB 2.0 alternative. This is particularly important for streamers, gamers, or anyone who wishes to move large movie or picture files. As such, this affordable device ticks plenty of boxes.
Technical aspects of the PRO Elite V3 USB 3.2 Flash Drive.
The PRO Elite V3 USB 3.2 Flash Drive promotes some rather hefty and impressive figures as part of its sales pitch. It claims to have exceptional lightning-fast read speeds of up to 1000 MB/s. Furthermore, you’ll enjoy up to 800 MB/s. We have already covered the up to 256 times faster data transfer and this is a figure I’m not going to dispute. What’s more, picking a USB 3.2 device is the way forward for compatibility and future-proofed storage.
For this review, I plan to use CrystalDiskMark as my benchmarking tool. This should highlight if the advertised speeds are accurate. Furthermore, I can compare this Flash Drive to the read-write speeds of SK Hynix’s T31 Tube SSD. This product was tested using my benchmark program using a USB 3.2 port via my home PC. The speeds were impressive and offered a range of 805 MB/s write speed and 830 MB/s read speed on average. Moreover, I never experienced any overheating or compatibility issues.
Benchmark test.
I transferred a large 4K video from my GoPro Hero 10 Black edition to my PC. This roughly 1.5 GB file was the same one used for the T31. Consequently, I believe I’ve made every effort to level the playing field. The result was impressive I tested the PRO Elite V3 USB 3.2 Flash Drive 3 times and enjoyed read speeds of 945 MB/s on average and write speeds of 735 MB/s on average. Accordingly, compared to the T31, it comes out on top for its read speeds. However, it falls short on the write speeds.
This comparison can also be checked against PNY’s V2 flash drive. On average, this device is benchmarking with 930 MB/s read speeds and 863 MB/s write speeds. Consequently, the newer model has moved forward in some aspects and backwards in others.
Build quality.
Flash drives are designed with portability in mind. As such, they need to be robust and easy to handle. Moreover, you don’t want to lose them, so a method of storing them safely is also handy. Thankfully, the PRO Elite V3 USB 3.2 Flash Drive ticks each of these boxes. The metal casing is strong and can resist drop damage. The USB connection can also be withdrawn to safely hide within the shell. This was a great design choice as it reduces the risk of unwanted damage.
The smooth moving parts are held in place unless pressure is applied. This is important as you don’t want the USB connector to retract when you insert it into your PC or laptop. Finally, there is a handy loop on the case to store a chain or to connect it to your work keys or laptop bag. This loop is robust and can resist plenty of rough and tumble.
Is the PRO Elite V3 USB 3.2 Flash Drive worth it?
The benchmark test highlights the impressive power of the PRO Elite V3 USB 3.2 Flash Drive. Furthermore, the build quality is great and I like the 3 capacity options.
