Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 14 Series, which consists of four different phones, including the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G, Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G, Redmi Note 14 Pro, and Redmi Note 14 Pro.
The Redmi Note 14 Pro is the highlight of Xiaomi’s new lineup. It sits at a sweet midpoint between the models, bringing a powerful camera, among other features, and has a price that’s easy on your wallet. Here’s everything worth knowing about the smartphone.
Bright display and strong design on Redmi Note 14 Pro
The Redmi Note 14 Pro has a 6.6-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1.5K resolution, and curved edges on both sides. Xiaomi has embedded eye-care technology in it to reduce adverse blue light effects. The screen goes as bright as 3,000 nits and has protection from Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
Framing it is an All-Star Armor Structure with a vegan leather back material that appears in three colorways: Midnight Black, Aurora Purple, and Ocean Blue. But there’s another variant with a glass back, mainly using Corning’s Gorilla Glass 7i.
The camera module sits at its top center. Although the expectation was a 200MP AI camera, as seen on the Redmi Note 13 Pro, Xiaomi seems to have ditched it for a 50MP camera instead, as rumored.
Thankfully, they haven’t removed the innovative capabilities, such as AI Erase Pro to help you remove unwanted objects from your photos without leaving any marks, and AI Image Expansion to allow you to stretch your pictures and fill in the background intelligently.
We’re yet to see how these features will work, considering how often AI struggles to get removals and expansion right. The results can sometimes appear distorted, blurry, or unnatural. Hopefully, the Redmi Note 14 does it better than before.
The selfie camera is a hole punch lens with 20MP. The phone also supports unique features like Dual Video, which lets you record with both front and back cameras at the same time. Additionally, it has an IP68 rating and can stay up to two meters in water for about 30 minutes.
Experience decent performance and Gemini features
The Note 14 Pro also uses MediaTek the Dimensity 7300-Ultra, which is not as advanced as the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 on the Note 14 Pro+ model. But in compensation, you get a large battery of 5,500mAh designed to keep up to 80% of its after 1,600 charge cycles and last for years, or so Xiaomi claims.
The phone also comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Although it launches with Android 14, Xiaomi has committed to three years of major software updates and four years of security support. So you should get upgrades until Android 17.
Google Gemini is also available across the series, with popular AI features like Circle to Search coming along with it. The Redmi Note 14 Pro will be priced at £299 (≈ $368), and we should start seeing the entire series on the UK website and other retailers from January 15th.
