PORT NECHES — Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying suspects involved in a burglary at the Sunshine convenience store early Friday morning.
Officers were dispatched to the store, located at 1202 Magnolia, at 2:54 a.m. for a burglary in progress. Upon the officers arrival, the suspects had already fled the scene.
Investigations revealed that at 2:45 a.m., two individuals dressed in all black and wearing gloves broke into the store. Once inside, they targeted a bitcoin machine, stealing the cash box.
A home security camera in the 2100 block of 13th Street captured a dark-colored passenger car with a “squeaky” suspension repeatedly driving between the convenience store and Sun Avenue. The suspects reportedly parked the vehicle on 13th Street, committed the burglary, and then sped away in reverse down 13th Street towards Sun Avenue before leaving the area.
Authorities urge anyone with information about the burglary, or who can identify the vehicle or suspects, to contact Detective Ivy at (409) 719-4206. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (409) 833-8477.
