Apple celebrates Martin Luther King Jr Day on its homepage

As is usual, Apple is celebrating Martin Luther King Jr Day on its homepage, with quotes from the civil rights champion.

This year’s lead quote is: “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically” …

Scrolling down the page we also see:

“You must decide to speak for yourself; nobody else can speak for you.”

and:

“We cannot preserve self without being concerned about preserving other selves.”

There’s a link to Dr King’s book Why We Can’t Wait and a BBC piece about “a misunderstood icon of US history.”

The celebration is an annual tradition for Apple. CEO Tim Cook has also tweeted another quote, together with an invitation to honor King’s spirit.

Dr. King once said, “Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.” True greatness lies in lifting others, making a difference, and serving with purpose. Let’s honor his legacy by finding ways to serve and create a better world together. #MLKDay
