Godzilla is one of the most iconic monsters in cinema and pop culture. The same can definitely be said for King Kong, another giant beast. That’s why the idea of mixing Godzilla and King Kong into a movie franchise wasn’t too surprising a concept to me. The movies have also been doing rather well.
Now, instead of having to just watch the action take place, you can be a part of it. In a big collaboration between Tilting Point, Hunted Cow Games, Toho, and Legendary Entertainment, we get Godzilla x Kong: Titan Chasers, a new strategy MMO for mobile platforms. Let’s talk about it.
Godzilla x Kong: Titan Chasers Is a Big-Name Entry for Lovers of Strategy Games
I think a pretty lengthy argument could be had on which video game genre is best suited to mobile platforms. In my opinion, it’d be pretty hard to argue against strategy games in that regard. These games can require a lot of patience and, sometimes, a lot of involvement. Having your strategy world tucked away in your pocket makes it super convenient to access.
Godzilla x Kong: Titan Chasers is a 4X strategy game launching on Android and iOS that puts you into the role of a Titan Chaser. You’re not going to be playing as Godzilla or King Kong in the main story campaign, but arguably, playing as a human is more challenging anyway. Instead, you’ll be a human on the Siren Isles, building your HQ, expanding your reach, and fighting those giant monsters that decide to come your way.
While the game has major strategy elements, you’ll also notice some RPG spice mixed into the sauce. The in-game combat is turn-based, just like in many RPGs. It’s necessary to get the hang of it, as it’s necessary to master it as part of the main story campaign, whether you’re fighting rival Titan Chaser factions or superspecies. Speaking of superspecies, you can capture them and learn how to unleash their power in battle.
Legendary’s First Foray Into Mobile Gaming Gives You the Chance to Fight Monster vs Monster
Legendary Entertainment has been doing what it can to enrich the Monsterverse and create a new franchise. For the most part, that has been going well, and as part of those efforts, it has come forth with this game—its first time ever being involved in gaming on smartphones (that alone is why I hope it doesn’t fall into the typical annoying pitfalls of mobile gaming).
Considering that, it’d be an absolute shame for the official Godzilla and King Kong game not to give you a chance to fight as a giant monster. Fortunately, besides the main story campaign, you also get access to a monster vs monster campaign mode that will let you fight as any from an array of superspecies.
Even if you’re not used to strategy titles, it might be worth a whirl. A rich tutorial will take you through everything you need to know, and the next thing you know, you might be itching for the game without anyone pushing you to.
