Eve’s first smart dimmer switch brings HomeKit and Matter support

Eve continues to expand its smart home lineup with the Eve Dimmer Switch, a Matter-over-Thread smart switch that lets you control and dim your lights via Siri or HomeKit. Whether you want bright lighting for a morning routine or dimmed overhead lights for a movie, Eve’s new switch offers precise dimming control alongside easy integration with HomeKit, Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings over Matter.

HomeKit Weekly is a series focused on smart home accessories, automation tips and tricks, and everything to do with Apple’s smart home framework.

The Eve Dimmer Switch mimics the design of the original Eve Light Switch, offering a hybrid touch button/rocker dimmer for incremental dimming and responsive control. It supports single-pole and 3-way wiring, allowing you to upgrade your lighting without replacing every switch in a circuit.

Like other Eve switches, the Eve Dimmer Switch requires a neutral wire and works only with dimmable bulbs. It’s a Full Thread Device, strengthening your Thread network’s overall stability and range. While it integrates with regular 3-way switches, you can’t install two Eve Dimmer Switches in the same circuit.

“We know how important it is for customers to have choice when it comes to their smart lighting, and a dimmer switch was the natural next step in our family,” said Jerome Gackel, CEO of Eve. “With Eve Dimmer Switch, we’re giving users the flexibility to set the perfect brightness for any moment using their finger, app, voice, or automation.

Wrap up

The new Eve Dimmer Switch looks like a powerful addition to any smart home. Having dimming control via Siri and the Home app for overhead lights is a great tool. With HomeKit & Siri, you can adjust brightness or switch lights on/off. HomeKit automations and scenes let you set routines based on motion or presence, while remote access means security and convenience from anywhere. Eve claims it has Flicker-free dimming and provides smooth lighting adjustments. Matter and Thread connectivity enhances reliability and efficiency. Eve maintains its commitment to privacy-first smart home solutions with no cloud dependency, tracking, or registration required. You can load it into the Eve app or straight into HomeKit.

It’ll begin shipping in March for $49.95.
