An “Ultra” Realme With a Massive Sensor Will Be Unveiled at MWC

Since the very first time that someone decided to stick a camera onto a phone, things have never been the same, and that’s far from being hyperbolic. It’s impossible to say that allowing the average person to have a camera in their pocket hasn’t changed the world.

The average phone camera has gotten good enough for all basic needs, but for those who have started to see their smartphones as an alternative to a DSLR or professional cinema camera, quality matters. Smartphone OEMs are paying more attention than they ever have to camera hardware, and an upcoming Realme smartphone proves that.

There’s been a pretty significant uptick in manufacturers releasing devices that can best be classified as “camera phones.” With massive camera modules on the back, phones like the upcoming Vivo X200 Ultra and Oppo Find X8 Ultra are made for those who want to push their mobile photography and videography to the absolute max. In fact, these OEMs are starting to leave Samsung behind when it comes to the meaning of “Ultra.”

For the first time ever, it seems that Realme wants to join the fold with an Ultra smartphone of its own. With the advent of silicon-carbon battery tech and the ultra-powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite, we expect a whole lot from any Ultra smartphone that will make 2025 or later its birth year.

We haven’t heard much about this upcoming smartphone from Realme, but now, we get one piece of official information. The device will have an “ultra-large sensor” and an “optical telephoto lens,” which isn’t surprising. It will be unveiled at MWC 2025, from March 3rd to 6th, in Barcelona. Realme claims the smartphone’s imaging system will outperform other devices. That’s a lofty claim, but we won’t have to wait long to see it.

Expect Much Better Portraits and Improved Low-Light Capabilities

When you hear that a smartphone has a 1-inch sensor, it follows pretty naturally to expect it to take its photographic capabilities very seriously. While Realme hasn’t mentioned a specific number, we can expect that feeling the need to mention that the device will have an “ultra-large sensor” likely points to a 1-inch sensor, or potentially even larger.

Either way, we know that we can expect the low-light performance to take a notable step up compared to its other smartphones, according to the OEM. It also seems like the telephoto unit could be a trendy 200MP unit, which should mean much better portrait photography from the phone. Either way, we’re expecting it to hit the mark in all things imaging.

The Realme 14 Pro Series Will Also Be Unveiled at MWC 2025

Do you remember that Realme smartphone that changes colors when exposed to cold? That’s the Realme 14 Pro and that mid-range device will also be introduced at MWC. Besides that cool little gimmick, it will also have a 6,000mAh battery, a capable camera setup, and a triple flash system that should supposedly improve nighttime shots.
