Apple seems to have discontinued the M2 and M3 MacBook Air following the introduction of the new M4 model.
Apple previously sold the M2 MacBook Air for $999 and M3 MacBook Air for $1099. The new M4 MacBook Air includes a $100 price reduction, replacing both the M2 and M3 models with a starting price of $999 (or $899 for education customers).
Apple also reduced the price of the 15-inch MacBook Air model. The new M4 version starts at $1199 compared to $1299. Just a few years ago, the cheapest Mac laptop larger than 14-inches would run you at least $2500.
Shopping for a cheaper Mac laptop? Walmart continues to sell the M1 MacBook Air for $629 (reg. $699).
Other retailers will likely continue to sell through M2 and M3 MacBook Air inventory. However, the lower starting price for the M4 MacBook Air means older MacBook Air models will need to be even cheaper to be a good value.
