Samsung Galaxy Android 15 Release Date Finally Confirmed

After countless delays and one of the longest waits from Samsung in several years, the Android 15 (One UI 7) update for Galaxy devices is finally coming to your phones and tablets starting in April.

Those with the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, S23 Series, A series, Galaxy Tabs, and more have all waited far longer than anyone expected to get the next version of Android. In fact, Google announced Android 15 in February 2024, full of new features and changes, which arrived in October for Pixel phones. Samsung quickly started testing and working on the update, which typically arrives between October and January each year. As we all know, that didn’t happen with Android 15.

This week, Samsung officially announced that the Android 15 beta will end and that a full release will begin “starting in April.” Naturally, this isn’t the first time we’ve received a timeframe from Samsung, but after countless delays and multiple beta tests, this should be the real deal. Unfortunately, we still don’t have a concrete date for April nor a complete list of devices that’ll get the latest version of Android. That said, I expect Samsung to share more details next month.

Samsung started its Android 15 beta program with devices like the Galaxy S24 in December, two months later than in previous years. That’s when we knew things would be a little slower this year. Typically, the beta slowly expands to other Galaxy devices, reaches milestones, and is released publicly.

This week, nearly five months since Android 15’s arrival, Samsung is finally ready to expand the One UI 7 beta beyond the Galaxy S24 series. That’s the first positive news Galaxy fans have received in a long time.

Which Galaxy Devices Can Get the Android 15 Beta?

As mentioned above, the Galaxy Android 15 (One UI 7) beta is currently limited to the Galaxy S24 series of phones. Later this week, Samsung will expand the beta program to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 in India, Korea, the UK, and the United States.

Later this month, Samsung will continue its efforts to release Android 15 by adding the Galaxy S23, S23 Plus, and S23 Ultra to the Android 15 Beta. The Samsung Galaxy A55 and Galaxy Tab S10 series should also get it before the end of March. As usual, you can apply for and join the beta program (with eligible devices) through the Samsung Members app.

A refreshing feeling.

As always, Samsung only allows a limited number of users to join the beta. Your best bet is to frequently check the Samsung Members app for updates. You’ll see a banner at the top of the app allowing you to enroll with any eligible devices. So, keep an eye out for those invites.

When Will My Galaxy Get One UI 7?

Naturally, you’re likely wondering when your Samsung Galaxy will get the One UI 7 update. The first phones to receive an update will, in all likelihood, be the Galaxy S24 series. Then, expect Samsung to work down its list of flagship phones and tablets slowly. Here’s a generic list of most models and expected timeframes. These are not official, but are a good baseline.

  • All Galaxy S24 models first (First updates in April)
  • Galaxy S21, S21+, S21 Ultra, S21 FE (Late April or early May 2025)
  • Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra, S22 FE (Late April)
  • Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, S23 FE (April)
  • Galaxy Fold 6, Flip 6, Flip 5, Fold 5 (Early April)
  • Galaxy Fold/Flip 4, Galaxy Fold/Flip 3 (Late April)
  • Galaxy A14, M14, F14, A15, M15, F15 (Late April or early May)
  • Galaxy A23, A24, M55, M23, A73, F54, etc (April and May)
  • Galaxy Tab S10 series (April)
  • Older Galaxy Tablets (Likely late May)

As a reminder, Samsung supports relatively new phones with four years of OS updates and five years of security patches. While newer phones are now promised seven years of updates, older models aren’t as lucky. For example, the Galaxy S21 series should get Android 15 this Spring, but that’ll be its last, and those phones will not see Android 16. And older models like the Galaxy S20 will not receive One UI 7.

Finally, once we start seeing official Android 15 (One UI 7) updates roll out to the Galaxy S24 series, remember that they’ll arrive in waves. So if it starts in one region, that doesn’t mean that your AT&T model will immediately get it. Most U.S. carriers are a few weeks behind other regional models. Still, this is good news, and you’ll have the latest and greatest version of Samsung’s Android soon enough.
