LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —Bitcoin is back as a fraud scam in the township.
The Lower Makefield Township Police Department has released its blotter of criminal incidents for the past week.
These are the criminal incidents:
March 13
FRAUD —700 block of Bushell Lane, reported at 12:35 p.m. The complainant reported purchasing $21,200 worth of Bitcoin from a fraudulent website.
IDENTITY THEFT —1200 block of Linden Avenue, reported at 1:25 p.m. The complainant reported that an unknown person(s) may have received an economic injury disaster loan in their name during COVID.
March 12
THEFT — 600 block of Washington Crossing Rd., reported at 3:31 p.m. The complainant reported the theft of a refrigerator from outside the residence. Incident was captured on surveillance video. An investigation is ongoing.
March 11
RETAIL THEFT —900 block of Vansant Drive at Wegmans, reported at 1:35 p.m. Loss Prevention reported an unknown male removed $263.32 worth of merchandise on March 8 without paying. An investigation is ongoing.
FRAUD —1400 block of Judith Place, reported at 4:04 p.m. The complainant reported receiving
an email that appeared to be from PayPal advising them that they purchased $728.59 in Bitcoin. They recognized this as a scam.
March 10
FRAUD —100 block of Mountain Oaks Rd., reported at 11:45 a.m. The complainant reported paying $2,187.93 via credit card after being told they were facing felony charges for bouncing a check.
March 8
WANTED PERSON —300 block of Oxford Valley Rd., reported at 12:22 a.m. Police responded to the report to check the well-being of an individual who appeared intoxicated and stated they were lost. A records check revealed the 40-year-old Levittown man was wanted by the Bucks County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken into police custody.
March 7
CREDIT CARD FRAUD —1600 block of Manion Way, reported at 11:29 a.m. The complainant reported an unauthorized use of their credit card in the amount of $595.
