Let’s start off this list strong with the Topsy Turvy Bomb from the 2003 third-person shooter Armed and Dangerous. It’s a gadget that allows the player to dig into the ground. Nothing special so far, right? Well, what happens next is that the whole game world turns upside down, causing gravity to pull enemies off the map.
Your character stays attached to the ground as he holds onto the Topsy Turvy Bomb. What’s even funnier is that once the effect ends and the planet returns to normal, all enemies start falling back down, screaming in agony.

Needler from Halo
Needlers are a class of automatic guns from Halo games. They fire purple homing shards which embed into enemies and explode. The Needler is highly effective against living organisms but doesn’t do a whole lot of damage against enemies with energy shielding.

Dead Rising 2: Off the Record has a long list of amazing combo weapons, with one of the most iconic being the Pegasus. This weapon is crafted by combining a Stick Pony with Rocket Fireworks, and it delivers the exact kind of chaos you’d expect. After thrusting the Pegasus into a zombie, there’s a short delay before it activates, launching the unfortunate creature into the air, where it explodes spectacularly.

However, its simplicity doesn’t make it any less fun to use. When you combine it with Dishonored‘s other abilities and excellent ragdoll physics, it provides a very entertaining way to eliminate enemies.

Ringed Finger from Elden Ring
Here we have another grotesque weapon from a FromSoftware game—the Ringed Finger from Elden Ring. As the name suggests, it’s a giant purple finger adorned with several golden rings, likely severed from a Fingercreeper or possibly even the boss Rykard. Interestingly, the already huge finger can expand to an enormous size for a more powerful attack.

Red Faction: Armageddon was developed by Volition (the developers behind Saints Row), so it’s only fitting that the game has an overpowered joke weapon in the form of Mr. Toots. This is a unicorn that your character squeezes to fire a devastating rainbow beam from its rear end—powerful enough to obliterate entire buildings. It’s a sharp contrast to the game’s otherwise more serious tone.

Shark-O-Matic from Saints Row: The Third
At first, the Shark-O-Matic from Saints Row: The Third is an unsuspecting weapon, as all it does is shoot chum at enemies. However, what happens next is bonkers—after a few seconds, a shark breaches from the ground to devour the chum-covered NPC. The Shark-O-Matic provides a merciless way to execute enemies. A special shoutout goes out to the Land Shark Gun from Armed and Dangerous, which the Shark-O-Matic was based on.

The Borderlands franchise is renowned for its massive arsenal of guns, so it was difficult to pick just one for this list. I eventually settled on Borderlands 2‘s Unicornsplosion, a gun that shoots Butt Stallions (unicorns) accompanied by rainbow-colored effects. The Butt Stallions explode on impact, dealing significant damage.

The player in High On Life is equipped with several talking weapons/aliens called Gatlians, each of which is absolutely hilarious to listen to. For those who made it to the end of the game, Lezduit likely stands out as the most iconic. He constantly repeats his name, which is a portmanteau of “let’s do it,” while firing a devastating energy beam that obliterates all enemies in its path.
High on Life
Created by Rick and Morty’s Justin Roiland, High on Life is a quirky sci-fi first-person shooter. Comedic in nature, Squanch Games’ title stars a human who becomes a bounty hunter following an alien invasion. Debuting on Xbox Game Pass, High on Life is available on PC and Microsoft’s consoles.

Shrink Ray from Duke Nukem Forever
The Shrink Ray from Duke Nukem Forever and the Shrinker from Duke Nukem 3D allow you to shrink enemies. Duke can then stomp on the tiny enemies to take them out instantly. However, the most amusing feature of the Shrink Ray is that Duke can use it on himself by bouncing the projectile off a mirror, leading to hilarious situations where you fight against full-sized or other shrunken enemies in a regular-sized world.

Fat Man from Fallout
Few things scream power like Fallout‘s Fat Man, a mini-nuclear bomb launcher that looks like it was cobbled together in a mad scientist’s basement. This is the only weapon capable of firing the specialized Mini Nuke ammo. Surprisingly, despite being a tactical nuke, the weapon doesn’t deal nearly as much damage to single targets as you’d expect. It’s best suited for dealing splash damage against groups of weaker enemies.

Dubstep Gun from Saints Row IV
The Dubstep Gun from Saints Row IV is my personal favorite from this list. Honestly, I could fill this entire list with guns from Volition games, as they’re famous for their crazy and unique weapons. The Dubstep Gun shoots laser beams to the beat of dubstep music. It was likely inspired by this video from Corridor Digital. It’s already overpowered on its own, but you can further customize it with upgrades and different music.
