Square Enix has stopped supporting the iOS version of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. Apparently, this is due to a bug that can’t be fixed, and Square Enix is throwing in the towel instead of continuing to try and solve it.
This issue was first reported on January 24, 2025, and it prevented players from accessing the content they had bought, including the full game and extra items. The problem arose from changes made to the in-app purchase system, which was impossible to fix. As a result, the game has been taken down from the App Store.
The company has announced that players who made in-app purchases starting January 2025 can request refunds. This includes buying the full game and 15 extra in-game items like weapon sets, crystals, and other upgrades. To get a refund, you need to reach out to Apple Support directly, and Square Enix has set a deadline of August 31, 2025. If you don’t contact them by that date, the company won’t provide any further help.
This remastered version of the game has been available since August 27, 2020. However, Square Enix has announced that it is stopping service for the iOS version only. The game will still be available and supported on Android, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. The technical issues causing this problem are exclusive to the App Store.
If there were an issue with Apple’s App Store, then the game probably wouldn’t be taken down. Despite this issue being exclusive to the Apple version, the issue is still on the developer’s end.
The game is $30 on PlayStation and Nintendo, but free on Googe Play. So, it’s likely that the App Store version was free. The game was crossplay and had cross-platform saves, so players could just move onto another platform to play the game. That doesn’t mean everything should be available, but there should be enough that a player can move on without many issues.
