A Tensor-powered Pixel 6a could launch during Google I/O

Delayed by the ongoing pandemic, the Pixel 5a eventually launched during August 2021 after rumors of its demise had been wrongfully reported. This year, it seems that Google wants to return to its routine of announcing its affordable Pixel smartphone during its developer conference that is held in May with the announcement of the Pixel 6a.

According to Max Jambor’s tweet, the Pixel 6a launch has been penciled in for the month of May, which as previously mentioned, aligns with when Google usually holds its developer conference. In terms of hardware, we expect the Pixel 6a to feature the same Tensor GS101 chipset that powers the Pixel 6 series. Previous leaks have pointed to the Pixel 6a sporting a design that is similar to the Pixel 6 series, down to the presence of a horizontal camera bump.

There is bad news for audiophiles, though, because, unlike previous Pixel A handsets it’s thought that the Pixel 6a will not have a 3.5mm audio jack. Is that a step too far in your eyes? Let us know in the comments below.
