AAWireless wants to launch their latest Android Auto adapter with an interesting name, “TWO”. The adapter should be out by October 20th for European and American markets. It’s priced at $64.99 in the US and will be exclusively on Amazon. In Europe, the cost will range between €59.99 to €67.99.
The TWO adapter offers a refined design and easy connection
AAwireless’ recently announced their TWO adapter’s release date, and it will arrive with a fancy design. It’s black with a matte finish and has a circular multifunctional button at the center. The button is outlined with an LED ring that illuminates and makes it easy to spot. The button lets you quickly pair your phone with the adapter, so you can connect to Android Auto.
If you’re carpooling with friends, you can press it to switch between connected phones. It also puts the adapter in standby mode without unplugging it. You may even customize what the button does through the AAWireless companion app.
The adapter lets you connect your phone to your car’s system without a cable. But it does come with a USB-C to USB-A cable that you’ll connect to your vehicle. After setting it up, you can access apps for navigation and music, among other features.
AAWireless also says the adapter is 30% smaller than the first one they launched. It comes in matte black and has a compact 49x49x12mm design. It supports Bluetooth 4.2 and both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi networks. The specifications for the newer model are not yet public.
No CarPlay support until 2025
Yet again, AAwireless’ new adapter doesn’t support CarPlay like its predecessor, so Apple users are left out of the experience. But, in early 2025, AAWireless will launch the “TWO+” adapter, which will support CarPlay plus Android Auto.
With this new hardware design, we are creating a product that delivers wireless CarPlay with the same high standards as our Android Auto adapters
Chiel Prins, Chief Technology Officer AAWireless
Right now, AAWireless adapters are focused solely on Android Auto. They don’t support CarPlay because their initial hardware was explicitly designed with Android’s system in mind. CarPlay uses different protocols and requirements, so it needs separate hardware adjustments.
October 20th marks AAWireless anniversary
That aside, the TWO adapter’s launch on October 20th marks four years since AAWireless successfully launched their Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign1, which introduced the first wireless Android Auto adapter.
The campaign was highly successful, raising $7,032,850 from 73,602 backers, with an initial funding of $648,457 from 8,593 backers in its first wave, and it closed on October 20, 2020. Since then, the brand has worked on improving its products through user feedback.
They have a community of testers and customers who help shape new designs on Reddit, XDA, and other online forums. The TWO’s design was influenced by input from 350 survey respondents. If you drop your email on the official AAWireless website now, you’ll get the first dibs on the new wireless Android Auto adapter when it goes up for preorder.
You can buy it on their website, Amazon, or bol.com. However, people in the UK, Switzerland, Turkey, South Korea, and Japan will experience delays in ordering it for logistical reasons the company doesn’t state exactly. The product introduces a multifunctional button and is 30% smaller than its predecessor.
