Acer announced its brand new Chromebook Spin 714 earlier today which benefits from 12th Gen Intel i5 and i7 chipsets and features a USI stylus that slots into the built-in storage area on the front of the keyboard. That’s right, the USI stylus actually has a home to return to instead of being dumped in a drawer or a backpack and getting lost. As the name implies, the Chromebook Spin 714 has a hinge that allows the keyboard to be folded away in order to give a tablet-like user experience.

The 14-inch touchscreen display can be had with either 2560 x 1600 (WQXGA) or 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) resolutions and features a 16:10 aspect ratio. Under the hood is a choice of 12th Gen Core i5 or Core i7 processors with up to 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 512GB of SSD storage, all of which should mean that it meets the requirements for the Steam for Chrome OS program although it isn’t certain at the present time.

Acer claims up to 10 hours of battery life for the Chromebook Spin 714 and that a 30-minute charge will produce up to 4 hours of usage, which seems pretty handy. Acer has included a pair of Thunderbolt 4 ports, and an HDMI port, and there’s the option of a fingerprint reader to be had as well. With MIL-STD-810H certification, the Chromebook Spin 714 should be able to weather life’s bumps and knocks.

The Chromebook Spin 714 starts from $749 and will go on sale in North America during August.
