Alienware Reveals a Dual-Resolution Gaming Monitor

Alienware just revealed a dual-resolution gaming monitor that features two display modes: high resolution or high refresh rate. The AW2725QF is a moderately high-end 27-inch 4K monitor that respects your preferences for multiple gaming genres.

Users can switch the display mode to match the type of game they’re playing to get the best experience. For visually focused games, you can pick the mode with 4K resolution at 180Hz. At 163 PPI, it packs a lot of detail and richness that’s perfect for RPG, strategy, or adventure games.

For more action oriented titles, you can switch to the 1080P mode, which offers a high refresh rate of 360 Hz. The monitor compresses four pixels into one to lower the resolution and bump up the refresh rate. For a competitive edge in shooter, racing, and survival games, the monitor minimizes ghosting and blurring with its 0.5ms gray-to-gray response time (how fast a pixel changes shade). Screen tearing and stutter are also reduced because the monitor compatibility is NVIDIA and VESA certified.

The AW2725QF also has a console mode for better compatibility with consoles. The monitor’s HDMI offers a 4K resolution at 120Hz for console games. Also, variable refresh rate and auto low latency make the console experience more responsive. It’s compatible with high resolution speakers and soundbars. And you can customize the lighting on the back and hang your headset on its retractable hanger.

As for the color performance, the gaming monitor has a wide DCI-P3 95% color gamut and good color accuracy. It’s supposed to be accurate enough for creating and editing content in the Creator mode. The monitor has an IPS panel, which artists and creators favor. The brightness hovers around 400 nits, peaking at 600 nits in HDR mode. And the contrast ratio sits at 1000:1.

The Alienware AW2725QF starts from $599.99, and it will be available globally starting on September 12, 2024. Keep an eye on Alienware’s online store to buy it.
