There’s a fresh addition to the classic Bomberman series. Like its many predecessors, Konami’s Amazing Bomberman involves moving through various game levels while blowing things up, but is more musical than before with original songs.

The action title debuted Friday, August 5 in Apple Arcade. It’s playable on a wide range of Apple devices.

Musical bombs away in Amazing Bomberman

The original Bomberman dates all the way back to 1983. There’ve been many sequels in a wide variety of gaming platforms.

Like earlier versions, Amazing Bomberman challenges players to use various bomb types to smash obstacles and collect special items to complete a series of levels. It breaks away from the usual by introducing musical elements to the classic gameplay, though.

“The game launches with seven different playable stages and features original music composed by artists from Japan and abroad,” said Konami.

It supports one to four players, and there’s a Friend Battle mode. Watch the Amazing Bomberman trailer for a taste of the action:

Now blowing up Apple Arcade

Amazing Bomberman by Konami is now in the Apple Arcade section of the App Store. There are versions for iPhone, Mac, iPad and Apple TV. No matter the platform, an external game controller is an option.

The game comes with a subscription to Apple Arcade. It’s $4.99-a-month but includes about 200 titles, and a family can share a subscription. Plus, players can be assured that there are zero in-app purchases, ads or loot boxes.

Konami already has multiple titles in the gaming service. There’s Frogger and the Rumbling Ruins and Frogger in Toy Town as well as Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls.
