Amazon Luna Expands With EA Partnership And Reaches New regions

You’ve probably stumbled on Luna while browsing through your Fire TV Stick and wondered what it does. It’s actually Amazon’s cloud service, where you can play games without downloading or installing anything. The company’s servers do the heavy lifting, and you just stream the gameplay. Cliché as it sounds, it’s the Netflix for games. Better yet, it’s what Stadia was to Google.

Speaking of, Luna isn’t exactly thriving, and that’s why many can bet that it’ll end up like its competitor. You may want to keep your money because it looks like the service isn’t going anywhere but up. Amazon recently announced that it is expanding to four new countries. Even more promising is Electronic Arts joining its library and bringing new game titles to expand it.

Luna isn’t dead after all

For a long time, Amazon barely promoted Luna, so most people don’t even know it exists. You can’t compare it to Xbox Cloud Gaming and others with strong brand recognition and steady updates. There’s also Luna’s limited library lineup, where Ubisoft is one of the few big names sticking around.

Our teams are focused on building experiences that entertain and engage EA’s massive online communities, and we’re excited to partner with Amazon to make those games available to even more people. We look forward to a selection of EA games joining Amazon Luna, offering new ways for players and fans to come together across a variety of devices they already own, wherever they are.

David Tinson, EVP and Chief Experiences Officer at Electronic Arts.

Sure, there are over 48 games from the company. But it’s not a lot if you really think about it. You’re still confined within Ubisoft’s ecosystem, meaning you’re mostly getting Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and a few other franchises.

It’s a good thing the numbers are increasing, courtesy of the multi-year deal Amazon just signed with EA. The premium service tier, Luna+, will receive Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and Dead Space in the coming days. More EA games, including titles from the EA Sports lineup, will also be added over time.

You can access them as you already do on Fire TV, Fire Tablets, PC, Mac, iOS, Android, and select Samsung and LG smart TVs. It’s a smart move for Luna since EA games have strong name recognition, and hopefully, it will secure more partnerships in the future.

Now would also be a good time to get a Luna Controller, especially with the current introductory discount. It’s designed to serve you smoothly when you start playing on your Fire TV and decide to move to your phone or PC. Switching is as seamless as it can get without needing to reconnect devices.

The Controller is currently available for €44.99 (≈49), down from the regular price of €69.99 (≈$76) in the newly supported regions. It will also launch in Portugal later this year, though pricing details for that location haven’t been announced yet.
