In my brief time with the Pixel 6 Pro before I returned it, its lousy fingerprint sensor was possibly the most frustrating aspect that I experienced. That, combined with the lack of facial unlocking, meant that getting past the lock screen without needing to type in the passcode was always a toss-up. Google appears to have learned something from its mistakes with the Pixel 6 series, though, because an early video review shows the Pixel 6a recognizing fingerprints faster than its more expensive sibling.
Thanks goes to Malaysian YouTube, Fazlie Halim, who put the Pixel 6a and Pixl 6 pro side-by-side to test the respective fingerprint sensors. The result of the test promises in a much better experience both in terms speed and accuracy for the Pixel 6a, which was noticeably better than the 6 Pro.
This is great news for those looking at upgrading to the Pixel 6a which will, at least in one respect, be better than its pricier siblings.
Pre-orders for Google’s Pixel 6a go live on July 21st. Does the news that it has a much improved fingerprint influence your decision to buy the Pixel 6a? Let us know in the comments below.
