Android 11 is finally rolling out to the ASUS ROG Phone 2

We could say that it’s taken a while for ASUS to roll out the Android 11 update to the ROG Phone 2 but that would be an understatement. In fact, it’s been something of an age considering that Samsung is already updating its Galaxy S21 series to stable Android 12/One UI 4.0. Still, substantially late is better than never, right?

According to the XDA, version 18.0210.2111.160 is being pushed to ROG Phone 2 units via OTA, bringing all the usual Android features as well as a few that are specific to the phone. These include being to enable Bluetooth whilst in Airplane Mode so you can connect your headphones to your phone or tablet whilst on a flight as well as refreshing the ROG UI.

The update to Android 11 should be a nice change of scenery for the ROG Phone 2 that has languished on Android 10 since its rollout in March 2020, more than 18-months ago. When will it be updated to Android 12, I hear you ask? That’s perhaps best answered by a ouija board because if it’s taken this long to update the ROG Phone 2 to Android 11, a further update could be expected around the time that Android 14 is officially released, if ever.

If you don’t feel like waiting just a few days longer for the Android 11 update, you can download the OTA to manually install via the link below:
