Android 15 is the next major version coming for the most popular operating system in the world. We’re expecting it to launch with the Pixel 9 series (though with their launch coming a lot earlier than we expected, that might not be the case this year).
Well, while the option for the beta was finally opened up to other manufacturers, Samsung was notably late to the party with its Galaxy phones. Well, it seems like it has finally woken up from its nap, and the beta could be coming very soon.
The End Of July Or Beginning Of August Could Be Bringing The One UI 7 Beta
I’m a Samsung user and I have been for my last two phones. I’ve never felt the need to install a beta (though I might feel very differently about that this year). Either way, I know a lot of power users who like to get a very early taste of what the next version of One UI is going to bring, and for them, getting their hands on the beta as soon as possible is great.
We finally have some form of guidance regarding when we can expect Samsung to let the One UI 7/Android 15 beta loose on supported Samsung Galaxy devices. According to Ice Universe, arguably the most reliable Samsung tipster, that will be coming either at the end of this month or at the beginning of August. That’s merely a matter of weeks and could be as soon as next week.
However, it is important to note that he says this will be the case if there are “no accidents” which I suppose is referring to unexpected bugs or delays that the software team might encounter. For the sake of a lot of us consumers though, I’m hoping we won’t have to worry about that.
Other Manufacturers Have Been Hawking Their Betas Since Google I/O
Back at Google I/O in May, Google announced of lot of software-related improvements to its platform. Just days after the event, it announced the second beta for Android 15. However, one very nice perk that came with that was the fact that the Android 15 beta was no longer exclusive to Google Pixel devices, and other manufacturers were finally able to allow their betas to be downloaded by consumers.
Several large mobile manufacturers like OnePlus, Honor, Vivo, Oppo, and Nothing, were quick to announce their plans for the Android 15 Beta, with some of them available as early as that same day. However, despite Samsung literally being the biggest Android manufacturer in the world, they were notably absent from the list.
If the news pans out exactly as rumored, it’ll mean there will be over two months of waiting between when other device users were able to get a taste of the Android 15 beta and when Samsung users were. This is just the beta too, so the release version of Android 15 will probably come out in the final quarter of the year. Be prepared to wait a lot longer than you have already.
