We’ve been keeping up with the Android 15 release cycle, awaiting the point where it’ll be fully ready for release. After all, most people don’t hop onto the train during the developer preview or beta phases. Either way, we’re done with the developer previews, and today has marked the launch of the final beta: Android 15 Beta 4.
Now, all that’s left is the stable release of Android 15, which is going to bring some aesthetic changes and many functional improvements and additions. It’ll be launching alongside the Google Pixel 9 series which will be unveiled on August 13th.
The Stable Release For Android 15 Is Just Two Weeks Away Now
Android 15 is the next major Android version on the list and we find that it is a lot easier to keep track of things now that the sweet-treat names have been dropped; though, those were arguably more fun to deal with.
Anyway, if you’ve been waiting for the new Android platform to become official so you can install it on your Pixel or at least hear about all the fancy new updates that have made it onto the latest version of the operating system, you’re not going to need to wait for long. As always, the new version of Android is going to launch with the new Google Pixels, which means that you can expect it to become official on August 13th.
People using devices other than Pixels will clearly need to wait for some time before they’re able to get Android 15, as it is dependent on how quickly their manufacturers can get it ready for a full release. That is usually a matter of months for most major flagship phones.
Android 15 Beta 4 Adds A Few Final Improvements To The Soup
Anyway, we’re only celebrating the impending release of Android 15’s stable version because the fourth and final beta for the operating system has just been released by Google. If you have a compatible Google Pixel device, you’ll be able to hop right onto this new beta (though it is likely a good idea to wait a bit as there was a previous beta that ended up bricking devices).
There aren’t too many changes in the fourth beta as things are mostly final, and most of the major additions and fixes here are more in the wheelhouse of developers and not regular consumers like you and me.
If you are an app developer though, you’ll want to make sure that you’ve added compatibility for Android 15 to your application so that current users won’t have to fight any hiccups when updating to the newest version of Android.
As a developer, there are also many new features that you’ll be able to take advantage of in your app. It’ll be easier for the app to know when a screen recording is happening, Android 15 apps are edge-to-edge by default for a cleaner and more modern look, and you can choose to screen share an app window alone instead of the entire display.
