Anker Prime Power Bank Review: The Power And Speed You Need

Lugging a laptop, tablet, smartphone, and smartwatch around while traveling requires some organization to keep them charged and functioning for as long as necessary. This is especially true when you have to take a three-hour bus ride to the airport to catch a long-haul flight.

Design

It’s not your typical power bank design. Instead, the Prime Power Bank weighs 544 grams, is rectangular, and packs a handy display that shows all sorts of useful information. There’s a button on the side to turn charging on or off, and on the bottom are five pogo pins for if you have Anker’s 100W Charging Base for it to stand ready and charged. I don’t, and at no point did I think it was something that I needed to spend $70 on.

Otherwise, the front of the device is black plastic, which also envelopes the display. The other three sides are also plastic; the rear has a smooth finish, while the left and right sides offer some grip thanks to a textured finish.

Overall, Anker’s Prime Power Bank isn’t something you will feel like hiding away. It looks as smart as how it works. Despite it not being the typically flat power bank aesthetic, I didn’t experience any issues shoving the bar-style Prime Power Bank in the front pocket of my jeans.

Performance

With 200W of output and 20,000mAh capacity, the Prime Power Bank is ready for most scenarios. When you’ve used up the power supply, simply connect it to a wall charger capable of 100W charging, and the Prime Power Bank will go from 0 to 100% in just an hour and fifteen minutes—faster than most people’s smartphones.

When charging a trio of devices simultaneously, the output will break down into 100W and 60W (USB-C ports), with the USB-A port managing 40W.

The display shows real-time information such as the remaining capacity, how long it will take to recharge, and how much output each port gives out at any given time. Knowing how long it will take to charge your devices and recharge the Prime Power Bank takes all the guesswork out of the equation.
